I don't go to the doctor much, much less the emergency room...but I have to say Dr. Ledbetter comes off like the epitome of a a--h---. I realize he's an ER Doc and has a lot going on, but he really could care less about what was going on with me and it showed. He was very short and rude. I went to the ER today because I hadn't been able to urinate in 12 hours. After being at Brookwood ER from 10-3 today, they sent me home.
At this point I was freaking out and really didn't know what to do...still couldn't go to the bathroom. So at 4:00, I went to Urology Centers of AL in Homewood...told them everything that was going on (I should have done this first!). Amazingly, they worked me in today, basically at closing time, with Dr. Mark DeGuenther. The difference between the 2 docs were night and day. The staff were great as well, as were the nurses. Dr. Mark DeGuenther was the best! He represents what a doctor should be. They could not believe Brookwood didn't even do a scan on me. So, Dr. DeGuenther, did an outpatient procedure on me that didn't even get started until after the clinic had closed. They took care of my uretha blockage problem. It was painful, but it worked! They gave me a more powerful antibiotic shot, on top of of the antibiotic prescription Dr. Ledbetter had prescribed. It is now 8:00 at night...I'm relieved and don't feel like I'm about to die.
