Dr karpin was let go because that new office mgr set him up. For letting pt continue to get meds who had marijuana in there system. Dr karpin wad ok with it but he sold his practice to AHN and they are 100 percent aganst it. So sonce dr karpin no longer owned the practice they let him go for conflict of intetst.

Dr. Karpen was so wonderful! The first day I walked in he and his staff made me feel so relieved that I finally found someone who understood all the pain I was in and was willing to help me! When Dr. Karpen left (I never received notice of this) Dr. Flannery seemed OK but then I had to see Dr Weidner. She never looked at my medical history or meds that I was already on. I had a drug screen every time I saw Dr. Karpen and Dr. Flannery and never had a problem. All of a sudden I was released from their practice because Dr. Weidner said the meds they prescribed me never showed up on the drug screen but a drug that my rheumatologist had me on did and this constituted a break of agreement!!?? I work for an agency who does random drugs screens monthly so I know the protocols and what is found and what isn't. I called and she was very cold and said she did not have time to "chit chat"! I told her she had my medicine history that I gave a copy to the office every time I was seen. She said it was not open for discussion and again did not want to "chit chat". I also had problems with them not calling in my refills and had to go without meds for 5 days! I am glad she discharged me and I plan on filing a complaint about her and her staff.

I was so sad when I had to meet this new so called Dr Flannery I didn't like him at all.The only thing he wanted to do is make you feel like it was your fault he had to be there and there to take meds away from you and not to mention that every one will soon be discharged from there because he simply doesn't give two hoops in h---l for the patients or their health.My son saw Dr Karpen for 11 yrs and not one time did he have supposingly dirty urine and was discharged.After 13 yrs being Dr Karpens Patient all I can say is he was awesome.If any one finds him or if he is practicing some where please let me know.I don't care how far I have to go to see him.Dr karpen if you read these reviews you will see that not to many are happy with the other so called Dr.Please find us again we are miserable and leave one of those girls with the new Dr and bring Sue with you and Lori Ok.

Last week was my first visit with Dr. Ryan Flannery. Who is Dr. Karpen's replacement? I did tell the staff I want off the meds Dr. Karpen put me on. D. Flannery walked in the room and said I am glad you asked to be taken off the current meds, because I was going to take you off them anyways. He did not examine me until after we talked about my meds. There is a security guard in the office until August 15th, You WILL take a drug test. For me it was not big deal, they will not give you a script there. Your meds will need faxed in. They were to fax mine in Monday today is Tuesday and they still have not been called in. So I will be going cold turkey. The pharmacy has also had problems with the dr's office. I was advised by the pharmacy to call Dr.maureen Ginsburg. Dr. Karpen was the first Pain Mgmt. dr. I’ve ever seen. Dr. Took the time to see what is wrong with me, and what he recommends. Dr Ginsburg works with this practice, number is 412-469-7722 the locations that I know of are Jefferson and Bethel Park. If anyone finds Dr. Karpen please let us all know, Dr Flannery is only there for a short time, the new and full time dr will there in a month and a half The girl with the short brown hair who has only been for a few months. she can never get my blood pressure, nor can she 30 days. So Irritated with this office I will not go back. If I need to ween my dose I will have it done at another office. THIS OFFICE HAS TURNED TO S&&&T I do hope my comments have helped someone who has not seen the new Dr.. DR KARPEN IS AWESOME DR Ryan may be a good a Dr but pain management is not his thing. When I received the call that DR K was no longer with the practice, I asked if I should call in the following week for my meds refill. the person who called me said she would let them know. Now in my chart it says they called in two meds in the one month with is not correct. It's not work trying to prove them wrong because the staff does not listen,

Have been Dr. Karpen's patient for 8 1/2 years. Was extremely upset when he was gone with no explanation or way to find him. If anyone out there knows if he is practicing somewhere else, PLEASE post the info! Saw the new Dr. one time 4 weeks ago and wasn't scheduled to see him for another 4 weeks (2 months total) Then this morning I get a phone call that I am being "discharged" from the practice! Really??!! Are you kidding me??!! Who does this new Dr. think he is??? No reasonable explanation and NOT open for discussion. PLEASE help us find our Dr. Jay!!

I went to many Drs before I was referred to Dr Karpen. I didn't think anyone could help me and I would be on disability in a matter of a few yrs. Then I found Dr Karpen. He gave me my life back. Now he is gone and I cry almost every day because I'm afraid if I don't find help I will be back to just waiting to be on disability. I am terrified.

Miss him. My son is only 33 and has back pain due to 2 falls. Since Dr. K left he is in the worst pain he has had in years. The doctor that took over came right out and said he could still see my son or he can go elsewhere. Doesn't sound like he wants to see patients. Poor bedside manner. Will speak to my son's PA for a referral to a doctor that cares the way Dr. K DID. I hope the practice is reviewed to see what a loss is without Dr. K!!!

Dr karpen was the best and my favorite. He knows what he's doing that's for sure. I got a call from miss sue and she was cancelling my appt. Due to dr. K no longer being there. I am very sad he knew what to do and how to manage my needs. He joked all the time. Knew a referral for eveything. Dr. K if you see this don't cancel your appointments over a screw (LOL, my surgery went through and wasn't cancelled over a screw. Please come back or refer me to someone as caring as you. Best doctor I have ever had. His mustache is hilarious. He makes jokes and brings positive energy. I was going to the VA and it is such a depressing place. It was such a relief to come in and meet a smile from the receptionist. They are all courteous and polite. They remember what you discussed the previous visit. He discussed natural solutions but the best part is the atmosphere. Who actually likes going to the doctor. The last thing you want is a miserable person. The entire clinic is filled with nice people.

Best pain management doc I have been treated by. But, suddenly last Tuesday, he was no longer at his practice. The other doctor called in my prescriptions, without examing me, lowered the dose of medicine I was on. That is not good practice.
