I have taken my daughter and two of my grandchildren to see Dr. Steffek over the last 35 years. Dr. Steffek is wonderful. He talks to the children and can relate on their level while building a bond. Yes, many times he has to experiment with different medications because you never know how they will react. Last year when we were going through a rough time, he called on Thanksgiving Day, the Friday after and that weekend to make sure the child was ok as well as the parents. Not just a cursory call but a relaxed actual conversation. As long as he practices we will see him.

My three children have been with Dr. Steffek for over 20 years, as he diagnosed and continues to manage their necessary medications. He is a brilliant doctor and worth the often-times long wait. As for his staff, as with anyone, it has been my experience that they are as kind, caring, attentive, and polite, as I am with them. I have never experienced any problems.

We have been using Dr. Steffek for over 15 years. He saved my daughter's life. I have on occasion been upset with the office staff (except for Charlie) but they come and go. The most important thing is the welfare of my child. I wanted the best and did my research. Dr. Steffek was the most recommended by other professionals. If I have to endure occasional aggravation to insure she has the best care so be it. Do be prepared for long wait times.

My family has used Dr. Steffek for over 3 years now. While I agree that his wait times are long, experience with me and my kids has been good. I have never felt as if he pushed medication onto the kids. The man is brilliant. The knowledge he has is beyond that of other doctors my oldest son had seen in the past. "Experimenting" is part of the whole idea when you can't find the medication that works. My son's previous doctors have done this so I'm not surprised nor discouraged by that comment. It's completely up to you and your family to use or not use Dr. Steffek. We love him. I rather pay cash for visits than use a different doctor covered by personal insurance or Medicaid. As long as he is in practice, we won't be going anywhere else.

We took my ADHD/Asperger son to see Dr. Steffek and I felt he was very good. Sure the waits are long but isnt that the case with any doctor? He knows his stuff and is good with the kids. My son likes going to see him and so far everything he has prescribed has helped my son. He doesnt take insurance except for a couple select ones but I figure for going every couple months its worth the out of pocket expense.

Dr. was in my opinion, just a prescription writer. Prescribed so many medications for my teenage daughter, while he was "experimenting". Did not listen to my concerns, or her concerns. He explained several times to me that he was the Dr. and knew best. Only seemed to make issues worse. Ended up taking my daughter to another Psychiatrist who got her off of the overprescribed meds. His office was just a cattle call. Waited several hours each time even though we had appointments. Payments were a nightmare, even though my insurance covered the office visits. Was overcharged for copays. Found out months later, because of insurance backlog and paperwork, that my insurance company was overpaying his office. I had to write certified letters to get reimbursed for the overpayments. Office staff was rude, as well. Except the receptionist Charley, who was rude in his own way.

Things were going fine until we received an unprofessional letter seemingly written out of anger and frustration, informing us we would have to start paying out of pocket because they would no longer be accepting our insurance due to their failure to obtain reimbursement. None of this was shared with us directly or in person though we were in the office the week prior and had used Dr. Steffeck several times. We found someone closer to home who IS willing to work with us and our insurance. Also, be prepared to wait as long as two hours if you are not the first appointment of the day. Also had a hard time obtaining a diagnosis in writing and once we did, did not entirely match verbal diagnosis. Important when patient is school age and in need of an individual education plan. To be fair, Dr. Steffeck is very knowledgeable of medications for ADHD. Charlie the receptionist is pretty AWESOME! Lack credit card machines and automated appointment reminders via text or even phone.

Dr. Steffek has been my child's doctor for over four years. He is very confident in his recommendations which may seem "arrogant" to some people but I have never experienced it that way. I feel we are able to work together to find the right treatment plan for my child. He is knowledgeable about psych treatments for very young children which is a hard quality to find in a doctor. When we had an urgent situation I was able to get an appointment right away. Unfortunately the wait time is absurdly long most of the time. I find the waiting area comfortable and pleasant though.

Billing lady is crazy. My husband works for Exxon and we are involved in a benifits program with them and Aetna. My insurance covers the testing at 80%. However. I'm told I have to pay in cash up front and they don't accept insurance that I'd have to pay and be rembirsed through my insurance. Eventhough I agree and do so 6 mo later I'm told they never got re imbursed for testing and didn't get full payment for co pay. Eventhough I have receipts and I even had insurance call the billing lady the issue remains unsolvable. Billing lady is extreamly arrogant. Snooty! And quick to Jude. Never going back and not paying them double.
