Dr. Sajben saved my life. After years of unsuccessful treatments, she helped me get my life back in a few short days.
After reading reviews online, I was very nervous about meeting with Dr. Sajben. Although I found some of the information in the reviews to be true, my experience was mostly pleasant. It’s true that Dr. Sajben has a terrible bedside manner. She is very condescending and difficult to get a hold of. She doesn’t return messages and is disorganized.
Her fees may seem high, but they aren’t unusual for her profession. I think most of her patients have lost much more time and money from chronic pain or depression than it costs to see her. I imagine that her radical approach to treatment makes it difficult to work with insurance companies, which is the fault of managed care, not well-meaning doctors. I found her to be extremely fair, and only charged for the time spent, which ended up being about $200 less than expected for the initial consultation.
The bottom line is that Dr. Sajben will help you when nothing else has worked and no doctor has been able to help. If you go in expecting warm fuzzies, you will be disappointed, but if you go in expecting help for a chronic condition, she will work hard to find an answer.

Dr. Sajben can be quite direct and very honest, which some people might find offensive, but it's backed by solid experience and expertise, which I find quite refreshing after getting the run around by a number of preceding specialists. She has been willing to try combinations of medications that I, quite frankly, had never heard of before meeting her, but on average, my pain has been reduced by 75% on most days for over 4 years. Some of the reviews I have read bother me because Dr. Sajben is very knowledgeable and is forever sending me links to articles and websites. She is the only physician I have met who regularly calls a peer to coordinate my care on the spot. I can't recommend her enough

I have to agree with the comment about Dr Sajben being a cold-hearted person. She is unorganized and really does not listen to what you have to say. Her fees are outrageous and for the 3 hour first visit she has with you, it is hardly worth the money. She spends more time faxing papers and who knows what than listening to you. There are other professionals out there that do not treat you like this. I will be finding one soon.

I was shocked to see that the only other review for Dr. Sajben was a positive one. Dr. Sajben is the most cold-hearted, twisted individual I have ever met. She is a scientist and her patients are lab rats for her sick experiments. My fiance and I drove 500 miles and stayed for a month because we believed everything she said about herself on her website and on the phone and thought that she could help his horrible phantom pain. Everything she said turned out to be a lie. She put him on a total of about 7 different drugs, each with its own set of horrible side effects, making him feel worse than he did to begin with. At the end of our stay, she admitted that she had never dealt with phantom pain, and sent us on our way with no instructions for tapering off the medications. After we returned home, she refused to stay in contact to help my fiance taper off the drugs. As a result, he tapered off to fast and ended up passing out and breaking two ribs. She deserves to lose her license.
