Staff do not communicate surgery time. Dr A do not attend the surgery on time. Both Dr and staff do not care about patient experience.

SPHINCTEROPLASTY
Suggestions for a safer and more comfortable recovery

In hospital - stay ahead of the pain - ask for drugs
Be sure to get pain and other prescriptions when you leave the hospital and get them filled immediately
Ask doctor if Domeboro should be used to clean and/or pack the wound every day.

No driving
Avoid riding in a car
Plan to be at home most of the time
Have a quiet place at home to rest
Laying flat is less painful
Stay ahead of the pain

Purchase these items ahead of surgery:
Adult diapers that fit (try on ahead) both pull up and with tabs
Adult wipes -do not throw wipes of any kind down the toilet, even if it is flushable (because it will eventually back up the toilet)
Plastic waste basket and lots of plastic bags
Toilet paper - softest possible and a very large supply
Large bed pads 30x35
Small ice packs
Heating pad
Chair pad
Bacitracin
Colace
Miralax
Take medicine advised to prevent constipation
Ibuprofen
Tylenol
Benadryl — narcotics make you itch

Buy food and other staples for 3 weeks
Eat bland food - nothing that upsets the stomach
Have a friend make your meals

Get plenty of DVDs or Netflix and books etc.

Use small ice packs and alternate with heating pad
Stay clean in area
For home use sitz bath or a bidet (The bidet is wonderful if you have one)
Ask doctor if Domeboro should be used to clean and/or pack the wound every day.

Follow all Doctor's instructions
Take a picture so you can see what is going on each day - call Doctor if problem
If changes to yellow or green or has puss or odor on the packing tissue Call Doctor
Was told that there will be no infection if wound is not closed.

My results
Still deep pocket adjacent to anus
Outcome - poor - sphincteroplasty did not accomplish objective to prevent bowel incontinence.

Horrible uncaring and unprofessional. Staff curt Nurse cold and utterly disinterested in patient care. Office shabby dirty and disorganized. Quite literally just a number...only doctors office I have ever been in where you take a number to be waited on and are called by number that you take when you walk in. Is this a deli or a doctors office? Doctor dismissive and impatient with questions or concerns. Absolutely no interest in follow up care...guessing not enough money to be made from that. Truly one of the worst experience ever.

Decided to leave a review after leaving Adusimilli for Rex. If you want to have your issue resolved quicker - make the switch - don't suffer while waiting for one doctor who only has appointments 2x a week.

It has been a year since my rectocele surgery and i am very satisfied that I chose Dr. Adusumilli to do the surgery. He is very skilled and most of all, he is very compassionate - a rare quality in a top surgeon.

Dr. Adusumilli is the finest, most compassionate doctor/surgeon I've ever met. I went to him after a colon cancer diagnosis was made, though the tumor penetrating the colon came from the uterus. He arranged a team of doctors/surgeons to ready me for and perform an 8-hr surgery. His bedside manner is superb, his staff exceptional, warm and caring, ready to help in any way. He is also the doctor/surgeon for my father who had highly recommended Dr. A to me. He's been following me for the past three years even though I chose a different course of therapy following surgery for peritoneal cancer stage IV. The only 3 star rating for punctuality is because he is very busy trying to provide optimal care to his many patients. You cannot find a more knowledgeable, warm, and loving physician!

Dr Sankar Adusumilli is one of the best doctors I have ever seen.
Even though he is an expert, he is very down to earth, approachable and was able to answer our questions in layman terms.

He did my colonoscopy, and hemorrhoid ligation recently.
I was impressed with his personal follow up callback, when we paged the doctor for some pain late at night, experienced after the surgery.

Based on our experience, I will recommend Dr Sankar Adusumilli as an excellent and caring surgeon/doctor.

I am 71 years old and this is the best doctor I have ever gone to. Compassionate and skilled and this is backed up by medical teams that rotate with him. They say he is remarkable!!
