My experience with Dr. Coogan was excellent. Initially, I dreaded making the long drive from my rural home, but I am so glad I did! My thumb had become very painful and nearly useless. He clearly explained the physiology of the problem I was experiencing and the treatment options. We opted for a more conservative approach to start, but ultimately surgery was necessary. The surgery experience at Baptist Ambulatory with Dr. Coogan and staff was exceptional. I followed all post-op instructions carefully and my recovery has gone very well. Best of all, I have the use of my thumb back! Of special note, I was very grateful for the kindness and gentleness with which I was treated by the doctor and the staff in the office and at the surgery center. I felt respected and genuinely cared for even though my problem was relatively minor. I have already recommended Dr. Coogan and TOA to friends and family and I will definitely seek them out for any future needs. Great care!

My experience and treatment with TOA and Dr Coogan and his staff is why I leave my small town and drive 2 hours to Nashville for Medical Care. It was amazing. Everyone was professional, polite and worked hard to take care of me. I ended up needing surgery on my hand. Dr. Coogan added me to his Surgery Schedule that day, staying till 7:00 pm so I didn't have to drive back. I regain complete use of my hand. Thanks to the entire staff!

I am the worst patient a doctor could have- I am a retired nurse. I worked many hours in an operating room and in a physician's office so I know the good and the bad. My experience with TOA and Dr. Phillip Coogan was exceptional. A rating of 5 does not do it justice. In fact I do not know how it could have been any better. If my family or myself ever need any orthopedic care again, I will not hesitate to contact TOA and Dr. Coogan. It is a good feeling to know where you can turn with complete confidence in their ability to get the job done right the first time.

Dr Coogan would not listen to me accused me of ortho hopping when I changed orthos due to insurance. Would not treat what is wrong would only look at how many surgeries Ive had even through they where all medically necessary. He was a waste of my time would not recommend him.

Very poor bedside manner. Accused me of Dr hopping, didn't know pertinent info from my chart, said nerve pain couldn't be coming from above my wrists. Brought a cortisone shot with him before ever speaking to me. Sent me to a rheumatologist since he couldn't figure it out. Rheumatologist sent me toa great neurologist who found the impingement causing my pain...in the elbows and neck.
