10 years, ago, and 2 heart attacks, my general health was failing rapidly. Ready to quit my job and go home and wait to die, I met Dr. Goode. I had good insurance so the tests didn’t scare me, but I didn’t like to take anything by mouth that wasn’t essential for nourishment. But, I did what she told me to do – without complaining about the small stuff, and I began to get better. I realized that when Dr. Goode spent extra time with so many of her patients, it meant that she cared more about the patient than the money or punctuality. Since I didn’t go to her office to see the staff or the husband, or to just treat a symptom, I have been completely satisfied with her ability to analyze, diagnose and treat. I now feel like I am 40 years old again (my birthday is 03/20/1943). It takes time, discipline, trust, and yes a little money, but she knows what she is doing. I am a retired airline pilot now employed as an active FAA Inspector with a new lease on life thanks to Dr Goode.

I've been seeing Dr. Goode-Kanawati for almost 6 years now and she has turned my life around. I had postpartum depression - brought on by vitamin deficiency and mismanagement of my Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (diagnosed 10 years ago). It was a difficult transition at first, taking many vitamins and trying to eat alkaline, but it has really paid off. I feel like I have my life back! I followed her advice through my second pregnancy and ended up having a VBAC - which I don't think would have been possible without her. My son was also extremely healthy. Her methods really helped make the pregnancy and giving birth a joyful time in my life. Now I'm healthier than I've been in a long time. I highly recommend giving her advice a try, especially by starting with the vitamins as much as possible. I didn't start eating alkaline until later, which made me feel amazing, but how I felt on the vitamins was what convinced me to try the rest of her suggestions.

Dr. Goode has turned my life around in a very short time. Less than five months ago I was functioning at 30% with chronic fatigue, hypothyroidism, weight fluctuation, mood swings and hair falling out to mention a few. She discovered food intolerances, deficiencies, and anemia that were all contributing to my poor health. After seeing many doctors over several years I am now functioning at 90% and still getting better. I am grateful for her expertise, incredible bedside manner and diligence. She is very upfront about her office policy regarding filing your own claims. Its an investment in my long term health, and that is invaluable.

overheard staff commenting on other patient's prescriptions while waiting in office to see doctor. Had to wait 75 minutes past appointment time to see doctor. Was tested for guttural sensitivities, and the results were explained in great detail. Test was not covered by insurance; had to pay everything up front and hope for insurance refund. Dietary changes, as recommended by test results, helped me feel better overall.

I have been a patient of Dr. Goode's for 12 years. She is brilliant. She is highly trained and skilled. She is knowledgeable and caring. With her help I have recovered from a major illness and continue to see her as my primary doctor. She understands degenerative and autoimmune diseases, and I am the healthier for it. She teaches as well as treats. I highly recommend her as a doctor. She uncovers the causes of illness that other doctors overlook. I am a testament to that. Her knowledge and understanding of nutrition have also really helped me get my health back. She also has a kind and skilled staff. They are always there for me whenever I call or visit.

The doctor doesn't take insurance. Kept me waiting for an hour. Suggested a lot of supplements that her husband sells on site some of which are controversial. Some staff is really nice others are rather condescending. The doctor herself comes off a bit rude and arrogant dismissing a lot of what I had to say. Overall, I was underwhelmed by the visit and flabbergasted by the costs and we will keep looking for the right doctor.

While Dr. Goode is very knowledgeable, I can't get past her abrupt approach and inability to educate me fully as her patient. She prescribed several expensive tests without telling me what each test was looking for and why she thought it was necessary. During the visit with her, she types up a list of what to do before coming back, but never reviews it with you. She sends you off to see her husband down the hall, who then goes over the list with you, as if he knows what she was thinking or what you discussed. If I took the time to confide in her and her ability to help me, I expect her to take the time to explain her thoughts and why her plan will help me. Also, she is very opinionated and isn't afraid to dismiss your thoughts completely if they contradict hers. I recommend finding someone who will invest the time to educate you so you can join them on your journey to better health.

I am currently being treated at Beverly Medical Center for hypothryoid and PCOS since Nov 2010. I have seen Dr. Goode once, and saw Linda Salerno several times (she has now moved away). I hope they hire a new PA soon so I don't have to wait as long for an appointment. Though the supplements are expensive, they do help. The supplements they recommended were also recommended in books I was reading on these conditions. You are not required to buy them there - you can buy them at a health food store if you like. But some are tricky to find, and if you have food allergies and sensitivities, you can be sure that Bevko vitamins don't contain what you are allergic to. The testing is expensive - my insurance covered some but not others. The proof is in the pudding - I am feeling much, much better. If you are a willing participant in your own healthcare and are interested in not just fixing a problem but creating health, this is a good doc for you.

Dr. Goode is an osteopath whose approach to medicine is holistic. In order to diagnose she requires a host of tests, many of which are not covered by insurance nor viable medically. Her treatment, once she's made a diagnosis, involves many, many, many, many vitamins, conveniently sold by her husband. When/if you don't improve she will tell you that it's because you are "not compliant" regardless of whether the test she is requiring THIS time is reasonable financially or not. So unless you're a hypochondriac, have lots and lots of disposable income and are very eccentric, don't bother with this doctor. You could do as well, or better, on your own.
