My children long ago outgrew their pediatrician, but I have been intending for years to write a glowing review of Dr. Dehovitz. When I think back on our years of seeing him, mostly for routine childhood ailments and check-ups, I actually have fond memories. His competence as a pediatrician goes without question, of course, but beyond that what stands out in my mind is his warmth and gentleness and, perhaps especially, the fact that he was a good listener.

As a mother of young children, I naturally had impressions, opinions, and questions about what was going on with them, whether they were sick or well or just going through a phase. Dr. Dehovitz never, ever appeared disinterested or impatient with what I wanted to tell him or ask him about what was up with the kids. In fact, he seemed to consider my input important and useful to him in understanding what they needed. He was always reassuring, never dismissive, and clearly competent in every way. When my daughter got stung by a bee and had an allergic reaction, the office swung into action immediately and all was well. When I told him a certain antibiotic had not seemed to work for my son, he did not dismiss me as ignorant or butting into his field of expertise (as other doctors occasionally do) but considered this useful information in deciding what to prescribe.

In sum -- he is a great doctor and a wonderful person. He also by the way back then had a great nurse named Barbara who was a huge asset to his practice, also a lovely ,warm and competent person. I don't know if she is still at the PAMF.

Dr. Dehovitz misdiagnosed our 15 y.o. son's Crohn's Disease for 18 months. At each visit he told us it was food allergies and to keep a food diary and come back in six months. Because we had an HMO, we needed his approval to see a GI specialist, which he refused to give multiple times. Finally, when our son lost so much weight that he was skeletal, we went to the PAMF CEO and insisted. The GI specialist instantly made the diagnosis and proper treatment was begun. For a pediatrician to miss the signs and symptoms of such a common disease over a long period of time is unforgivable. The way he treated us and our son speaks volumes about what kind of physician he is and how much he cares about his patients. I would never recommend him to anybody.

I took both of my children to Dr. Ross DeHovitz for at least ten years and we received incredible service. Not only is he a GREAT physician, he is a super human being. He saved my son's life when all the other pediatricians missed the diagnosis. Let's face it, pediatricians are never on time, but that's because other kids' emergencies sometimes trump our own kids' runny noses - deal with it. This man is truly a remarkable physician. I am proud to have had him as our pediatrician and would recommend him to anyone looking for a great doc.

Dr. Dehovitz is a good doctor. However, he did miss my daughter having Stage 3 NHL Which resulted in a more traumatic hospialization that needed to happen. Also I was less than impressed that after her diagnosis, there was no phone call, or visit, until we asked why the heck he wasn't following up with his patients. While I don't blame him for not seeing the Cancer, his collugue in the Urgent care caught it the first time she saw my daughter.
