I tried to reach Dr. C today at 4, to see about an appt. I needed her. Gum chomping receptionist Cindy told me she was gone. Took me a while to understand what she meant.- the doc is not available. I asked if she had a back up support - no. I was referred to a nursing assistant who will be there in the morning.

I have followed Dr. Carlson from Mattituck to her Shoreham office by choice. It had been quite a few years that I saw a doctor due to a very bad and as far as I am concerned unprofessional attitude by a doctor who sent me running from specialists to specialists. That particular doctor sent me to a neurologist who totally misdiagnosed me and just pushed pills in me andantes after months the primary physician claimed I must have MSvand actually seemed disappointed that the results negative. THEN I had shortness of breath on several occasions and decided to seek out a female doctor with the thought would be more responsive to all my issues instead of treating me like everything I was saying was in my head. Dr.Carlson was VERY thorough and listened to me. She realized My issues and immediately sent me to a neurologist and cardiologist with questioning what she felt was my problems. She was spot on and one of the he issues is very often misdiagnosed because it’s a rare disorder. I can not thank her enough for the referrals as they have been excellent with treatments and show great compassion and help. For me - she is the best and teasing some of these comments about her sending one off to specialists people she do realize that is her job and the way of the medical profession today.

Where to begin? Cynthia Carlson took over Dr. Ruggiero's practice in Shoreham (Dr. Ruggiero used to treat my daughter's chronic Lyme). When I called the office to see if Cynthia Carlson also treats chronic Lyme her office claimed that she does. However, Carlson does NOT treat chronic Lyme, and the PA Danielle who was still on staff later confirmed that Carlson does not treat chronic Lyme and no one in the office does either. Our visit: after a ridiculously long wait, my daughter explained all of her symptoms, they were a relapse of all of her old Lyme symptoms. Carlson was not interested in anything my daughter had to say about her symptoms and claimed that my daughter's rash was a dermatological condition and that was the cause of her severe fatigue and joint pain. (Side note: dermatologist said it was NOT a skin condition.) Carlson wanted to do a Lyme blood test and I specifically asked both Carlson and her nurse to run a full tick-borne panel as well. Carlson agreed. Carlson was going to be on vacation the following week but promised to call when she returned. Carlson never ran the correct blood tests because she NEGLECTED to order them. When I called to speak to her about this she NEVER bothered to return my phone call. Never called me after her vacation either. This was 9 months ago, and we never once received the follow-up phone call she said she would make. The only one to even bother to speak with me was the PA Danielle, who confirmed that the blood tests Carlson agreed to run were never ordered and Carlson does not treat chronic Lyme. This visit was a waste of time and money. To claim to treat a disease just to trick patients into making an appointment is despicable. She also billed the visit as a complex visit so she could charge more. She spent maybe 5 minutes with my daughter and didn't listen to anything my daughter had to say, she provided an inaccurate diagnosis, did not run the blood tests she said she would run, never returned a phone call, and then overbilled us. We sent a certified letter to question the billing level she was charging, she did not respond, however, we received another bill that said if we did not pay it would be referred to a collections agency. I will be lodging a formal complaint with my insurance company. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone ever. I should send her a bill for the time she wasted in treating my daughter's illness and causing my daughter to suffer longer with symptoms. Talk about violating the Hippocratic oath! She caused my daughter plenty of harm!

On the 1st visit she was very rude and she made it known she didn't want to be bothered because of the doctor I had come from. On the second and last visit she made me feel like I was a second class citizen, she was again talking to me like I was beneath her. She even went so far as to tell me maybe I should go somewhere else. Perhaps an urgent care or somewhere. I have to say I have been treated with more respect and warmth at an urgent care than I did with and by her. She should be a little more careful with her bedside manner or maybe it's time for her to retire.

The quality of caring has steadily deteriorated over the past 10 year. She is now little more than
referral MD who ships her patients to other MD specialist to make a diagnosis that any good internist could make. No followup from her or staff. She overbooks and 1- 1 1/2 hr wait is not uncommon. So many of her patients have left for the reason stated here.

Since Dr Carlson has partnered with Dr Buono, the time spent waiting for her in the office has tripled. I have thought about finally finding someone else. It's getting very frustrating to wait 15-20 mins after my appt time to be called in, only to wait 45 mins or more for her to finally make it in the exam room. Ive come close to walking out. Too bad because I like her. I think its her new partnering and blending offices that makes it so terrible.

I had a very bad cold symptoms, and a 104 fever in her office. She put me in antibiotics, and after 2 days I still had no relief. Her office refused to see me, her nurse told me to use a dehumidifier. She went on Vacation, the doctor covering for her told me to go straight down to the ER ASAP because I had been sick for a week with a high fever and very bad coughing, and it turned out that I had very bad pneumonia!! My lungs were almost entirely filled up, and it was only by the grace of God that the cocktail of antibiotic drugs worked, and that I'm alive today, to tell the world. I would NOT recommend this doctor!!!

I've been seeing Dr Carlson for 9 years. I wouldn't trade her for anyone.PS Ive never waited an hour to get in to see her. Even if I had to it would be worth it. She is kind, caring and genuinely concerned for her patients. Most of her staff is the same way. I tried other Dr's.No one compares.

She is a wonderful Doctor! I recommend her to anyone. Sure you have to wait some time when you go but when you are there she will spend as much time with you as you need! I love her!
