As another patient commented, DO NOT SEE THIS MAN! Not even sure if you can anymore, but he too decided to drop me as a patient without any warning, no phone call, and no letter. I called since I started running low on medication and had not seen him in a few months. At the time, I was only seeing him once every three months. When I called, the receptionist said I had not seen him since March and unfortunately he was scaling back his practice and he was no longer seeing any patient that he had not seen since March. Not a single phone call, e-mail, letter, etc was ever sent to me and now I am stuck trying to find a new doctor. I was referred to my previous therapist to see him. I dont know what she saw in him, but he was very dry, didnt seem too interested, and hardly thorough. The only reason I kept seeing him was because it was so difficult to find a shrink taking appointments and honestly, all I needed from him was my prescriptions. I have read google articles more helpful than him.

DONOT go to this doctor! The worst practice ever!! Dr. Hertzman just suddenly decides not to make any more appointments with you! No warnings, no excuses, no last prescription refill, no reference to another doctor! The receptionist is just rude and simply says that he decided to drop you, and goodbye!! It was very unprofessional! He is not very caring at all, I always felt rushed at the visits like he couldn't wait to get me out of his office, after only 5-10 minutes!! He simply prescribes the meds and sends you off. Donot be fooled by his Harvard degree, he seems to be stuck in the Mad Man era, might as well offer a glass of whiskey with the visits then! Anyway, I felt no empathy from him or any sense that he is willing to help you to get better. Def a pill pusher type of doctor, so drug addicts can give him a shot if that's what you want from a doctor! He needs to retire soon if he treats his patients as just cash cows!

Good to read these reviews. Unfortunately (fortunately?) I was unable to make an appointment to see him. His receptionist told me he won't see anyone who has seen another psychiatrist before. 'Scuse me? So, since I'm looking to change psychiatrists (hopefully to one in my insurance plan), I'm not welcome? That's just bizarre. Onward...

I had the same experience as the last person who commented. I was a few minutes late for an appt due to traffic (driving from VA to MD) and was told not only that I'd need to reschedule but that I'd need to pay for the appt I was missing. The receptionist was *EXTREMELY RUDE* and unsympathetic. As the other person mentioned, this 5+ min late policy was not listed anywhere and is completely unreasonable.

Dr. is ok at med. mgmt., but has some totally inappropriate policies. After 9 mos of my son being treated for ADHD by this Dr, we arrived for our 11:45 appointment at 11:50. (We'd hit some traffic which made us 5 mins late.) Upon arrival, the receptionist said, 'Your appointment was at 11:45 & it's 11:50 now, so we'll have to reschedule for another day.' FOR 5 MINUTES??!! I asked to speak to the Dr. himself, but she refused, was rude & nonresponsive. I had to take my son out of school 4 this appt, & he needed his meds written. I said we'd willingly wait longer than usual (of course, the doctor gets to make *us* wait as long as he wants w/o so much as an apology) if he'd taken another patient 1st b/c we were late, but she said no, & simply repeated that 'it's their policy' if you are 5 mins late+ you must reschedule. Of course this policy isn't stated anywhere, & I find it completely unreasonable. Things happen... if it was 1/2 hr late or something, ok, but 5 mins is just absurd.
