Very disappointed with Dr. Grua; I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2002. He has NO bedside manner and does not seem like he knew much about thyroid cancer; he told me previous Dr.’s were over-referring me for diagnostic tests ( thyroid was removed in 2002) and I was told all I need is yearly blood work to check current level of meds is working properly; if I am too high it makes my heart work harde and too low I feel lifeless. In addition, previous docs recommended yearly Dexa Scan to check bone density; I have been diagnosed with Osteopenia. For a first visit with him he seemed in a big hurry to get out (maybe to check and make sure he was getting paid for visit). He did not ask me if I had any questions and all he did is bad mouth previous Endichronoligists for “over testing”. I am not interest nor do I want constant testing; I do however want to know if Osteopenia has escalated to Osteoporosis and I especially do want to make sure heart is not over-working as previous docs have explained to me this will cause heart damage. I am extremely disappointed that one year passed so quickly; when I went to pharmacy I was informed I had no refill on thyroid med and they would contact; NO Response from Dr. Grua and was told a week later to contact his office myself so I did. I was told I had to schedule appt. with nurse and they would approve enough meds until my appt. Prescription was NEVER called in!!! I am currently trying to find a decent Dr.

My son had a terrible experience with Dr. Grua. He has addisons disease and had to switch from a pediatric doctor to an adult doctor. I had heard Dr. Grua was a good Dr. He went to his first appt. with him and Dr. Grua told him that he didn't believe my son had Addison's and told him that he didn't need to take the medications that he had been on for the past 5 years. My son ended up in the Emergency, he was in Adrenal Crisis and nearly didn't make it. I think Dr. Grua is a poor excuse for a doctor.

All I can say is "Unbelievable!" I thought I was in the twilight zone! I recently saw Dr Grua and it was the worst experience ever in all of my years as a patient. I have an autoimmune disease, Hashimotos, and because of the symptoms I have been having I wanted to see a specialist who could take a deeper look into what is going on and have a sonogram done. Dr Grua hardly examined me except for feeling my throat and said the symptoms I am having are not thyroid related. Even if this were the case, wouldn't he want to make sure that nothing serious was going on and the fact that I have never had a sonogram of my thyroid, isn't that even more of a reason! He told me to see an Ear Nose and Throat Dr. I also have swollen lymph nodes in different places and he wouldn't even address it! I had a list of health issues that are directly related to the thyroid and I never even discussed them with him because I knew it was just going to be a waste of my time because he wouldn't have done anything anyway. Doesn't this doctor realize what he is doing? Doesn't he see these reviews?? I hate to say this but he needs to be reported!!

My primary care physician referred me to Dr Grua. After a month I called his office and was told that they had the referral but he hadn't read it. I called two weeks later and was told they had no record of a referral. I had my doctor send another referral, and after a couple of weeks I called again. They told me that the doctor had said no. That's all, just "no". He told me to see my primary care physician.

I went to him to get tested for cushings, which I have most symptoms of. I don't care if it's cushings or something else, I just want to figure out whats wrong. He seemed ok during the visit, saying that most don't have it. I expected that. But he didn't even do an exam that was thourough, and he didn't listen to me much. I did some testing and most of it was negative. He then sent a letter to my doc saying I don't have cushings or any other endocrine disorder, and he was quite rude about it. Yet I am insulin resistant and pre-diabetic. Very rude. He was supposed to be the best, but didn't have any interest in actually helping me. Don't go to him. It was such a waste of time and waiting to get into him in the first place. I am worse now and my health is deteriorating but there is nothing wrong. Yeah, right.

I started seeing Dr Grua 12 years ago for high thyroid-he was convinced it was because I had graves. He never tested me and because I was very young I didn't know anything about the ultrasounds or anything else. While he explained my labs, he brushed off all my concerns. When I had my thyroid removed, I gained 10 lbs a months for over 6 months-to which he said it gets harder as one gets older. I was 24!!! Eventually he did several tests and determined I was low. Which I felt marginally better, but not much. Fast forward several years and lots of self education. I will never go back to Dr. Grua. Ever. Please, find another dr and save yourself heartbreak and embarrassment.

I was very disappointed with the care I received from Dr. Grua. He never took an ultrasound of my swollen thyroid, dismissed me even when I pointed out to him that I noticed my antibodies were going up with each new lab, refused to put me on a T3 or T4, told me I no longer had thyroid issues. Told me to come back in a year. Immediately got a 2nd opinion and took all previous labs to new Dr. Thyroid was attacking itself, was still swollen and needed to be removed. Surgeon asked for ultrasound couple days before surgery, could not give him one. He said thyroid was way inflammed and covered with nodules. Should've been treated much differently, both surgeon and new doctor shocked I was not on any thyroid meds either. So disappointed and frustrated at lack of care and concern for my health by Dr. Grua, saw him for a couple of years and wish I never would've been referred to him. Lots of regret not leaving sooner, but knew nothing about thyroid issues, and going to him I only learned that the care received from him was horrible!

My GP was concerned about blood test results and suggested I go talk to my endo (Dr. Grua). Although I had seen Dr. Grua a couple of times previously and he seemed like a decent endo, this time he basically just told me there is no magic pill to make me lose weight and to just face that. I was stunned speechless! I left his office crying and will never return. From all of the poor reviews I am reading on him, I get the feeling it's time for Dr. Grua to retire.

Dismissive, rude and arrogant. Continued to make jokes about my age and the fact that I am "getting old" (I just turned 40) to be the root of my problems. He orders lots of expensive labs and does not take the time to review them. Extreme difficulty getting prescriptions refilled, despite the fact that I went to all of my appointments and did everything that he required.
While I am sure he is very intelligent and knows his stuff his condescending attitude was too much for me to handle.

The staff was extremely rude. I had several appointments and tests ran. Dr Grua wanted me to do another test of my pituitary gland that would have cost me 2000. I asked if there wasn't another way to test. He said if my blood test came back at 0 then it meant I had brain cancer and needed to the the expensive test. He wrote me up to get the expensive test done knowing my result would be 0. When I called in to get my results no one would give me the results on the phone. They insisted that I make an appointment . They said if they gave out text results over the phone that would be all they would do all day. So I made my $50 appoint and the SAME lady who wouldn't tell me the results told my while weighing me in, "oh by the way your test came back at a 0". I was crushed, and sat down on the floor to cry (in front of people! can we say Hipaa?) After my room opens up she takes me inside and chastises me for calling in so many times to get my results, the Dr comes in an joins in on berating me. They say "well, even if we told you it was 0 you would still need to come in to get me to write you a script to get the next test done!" I pull the rx out of my purse and remind them that he had already written it for me to get and we were just waiting to confirm with the results of the blood test. Oh well, no you know he says and my appointment is over. REALLY!? who does that, I went out to the parking lot to cry in my car. I did take the expensive test, luckily the U of U gave me a print out of my test (at my request) knowing full well the dr wasn't about to give me any information. When I had my follow up appoint he just said that with my small smooshed pituitary I would never feel good. I FOUND A NEW DR RIGHT AWAY. This guy is one ego trip after another and treats people so poorly. Save yourself time, money, and self esteem and stay away from him!!
