Please beware Dr. Devin Garza. I had a laproscopic myomectomy with him in August 2016.
So post-surgery my stomach never went down from its swollen state (continues to be hard and look like I'm about 4-5 months pregnant) and my incisions remained raised and angry. I saw Dr. Garza and asked him about this, and his response was that I was overweight and it was fat. He was condescending patted my leg and told me sometimes after he eats dinner he feels a little too bloated too so he understands. The whole thing was totally devestating and made me feel like I was the crazy one for some reason? So I advocated for myself and requested they send me to a physical therapist who specializes in women's issues. She told me my whole pregnant-looking belly was ALL scar tissue - NOT fat. I understand that scar tissue happens but 1. why wasn't Dr. Garza able to diagnose that and instead blamed ME; 2. there was no need for him to be condescending.
On a lesser scale, I had to wait an hour or more for all of my appointments with Dr. Garza - I understand some patients take longer than others but I have to drive across town and take off work for appointments. Additionally I was required to pay $1000 upfront for my surgery which wasn't actually put towards my deductible until 3 months after my surgery. Then, Renaissance owed me the $1000 back because of how they filed it (incorrectly) - it took me 8 months and lots of calling to actually receive funds and I STILL haven't received the full amount.
But the worst is really how my care was handled post-surgery. In my post-op I asked Dr. Garza specifically what steps were taken during my surgery. He looked at me like I insulted him and said, "I took some fibroids out." I asked for more details (how many, their weight, future chances of recurrence) and it seems like no one could give me a straight answer. So...I can't really say what a "Godsend" Dr. Garza is because I have no idea what happened while I was under.
So. If you're going to go here, be ready to be a hardass and really be your own cheerleader. This many has no bedside manor, is rude, and will try to take your money. And disfigured my body. And maybe he helped with fibroids? Perhaps if he'd told me what happened during my surgery I could say that affirmatively.
