Many moons ago, when I was a student at UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, I was diagnosed with a precancerous condition requiring surgery. Having paid for summer coverage, I thought that from an insurance perspective, not out-of-pocket costs would be looming. Not so. I was only covered for use of the clinic. Having been referred to act. Leuchter through a friend’s own gynecologist who had said that if she ever had anything wrong, she would go to him for his winning combination of surgical expertise and empathic bedside manner, I did seek his counsel. Not only was his surgery of the highest level, but knowing that I had monetary concerns, he made accommodations in where surgery was performed. His manner was incredibly reassuring, kind and humane, while his surgical skills were and remain unparalleled. He communicated brilliantly with all parties. I feel blessed to have been in his care.

this doctor cares more about the hospital' financial gain than his patients well being. sorry but he is a terrible person. who cares if he is a good doctor if he doesn't care about his patients. he is rude, condescending and worst of all works for hospital' benefit. he kicked me out after the surgery

I wrote a review of Dr. Leuchter In January of this year (on Yelp). I suggest you read it if you are in need of a surgeon. I have now had 3 follow ups with Dr. Leuchter and my final one is in about a month. A regular surgeon would have sent me packing back to my OB/GYN a couple visits ago, but Dr. Leuchter knows I am super comfortable with him. You see he fixed me and I am great. I won't go into detail, because yuk, but assume it safe to say I had ever reason to be scared (again) and ever reason to search out the best doctor, even if I had to leave the State. The best was 25 minutes from my front door. I am a lucky woman.
Dr. Leuchter personally sees his patients for every follow up. You do not get a staff member or one of his Fellows, you see Dr. Leuchter and you get as much time as you want with Dr. Leuchter and all your questions are answered.
I simply can not recommend him enough.
I have had many health issues so sad for me, but good for the reader, I know what I am talking about. He is just great. You will know you are safe. You will know he cares about you. He will not make you feel like an idiot. He will never, ever rush you. You will not wait an hour passed your appointment time. Dr. Leuchter knows what he is doing and he keeps up with all the latest research in his field.
Dr. Leuchter works with his patients and listens to see what they want, what they need. He knows all of your medical history before the first visit, he is not sitting there reading. He has already done that and in my case that was not a small file.
Dr. Leuchter is simply a great surgeon. I have one of the best Oncologists in the Country for reasons I won't bore you with. He said, "Go to Dr. Leuchter." I am alive. I am well. I have no scars that you can even see--I can't find them anymore and it has been only 6 months.
When the fear of cancer or some other horror making nightmare comes to your door and I hope it never does, and you need an OB/GYN Surgeon, you go to Dr. Leuchter. You will be so happy you did. Trust me.

Dr. Leuchter worked with Dr. Liu and gave my mom a full hysterectomy after cancer was detected in her uterus. They never prescribed chemo or radiation for her AND failed to order a pet scan to determine whether or not this cancer had spread. A year later, my mom suffered a bit of discomfort and went in for a colonoscopy, which revealed that her cancer DID in fact spread to her lymph nodes, liver, lungs, in addition to a tumor in her pelvis. It's likely that this cancer could have been detected earlier had Dr. Leuchter done his job and ordered the pet scan initially. Cancer patients are not always aware of proper protocol, and rely on their doctors to provide them with the care necessary. My mom didn't know to request a pet scan, but an oncologist should know better. Feeling like Dr. Leuchter had "dropped the ball," my mom found a new oncologist, Dr. Dosik. She received the best of care at Dr. Dosik's office up until she lost her battle.

I can't believe these comments these angry unhappy people wrote! Dr. Luechter and and his staff are the very best. I f you're looking to be coddled, this is not the right place for you. But if you are looking for expertise, directness and truth, a skilled physician with credits incomparable and someone who can save your life, that's Dr. Luechter-he saved mine. I will be eternally grateful for his skill and the two top rate physicians who recommended him to me. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Dr. Luechter. He is the best!

I was quickly diagnosed and Dr. Leuchter explained in detail the medical situation. Time was taken to answer my questions at the time. When I had additional questions I received return telephone calls quickly. I found the staff extremely friendly and helpful. They displayed a lot of compassion and understanding. I am also very satisfied with the surgery and follow up care.

Though he may be well experienced, he is rude, condescending and picks which patients to respect and allow time for. If you're a celebrity or other type of VIP, yes, he is great. Otherwise, you mean nothing to him other than being a another patient. He overbooks patients in his clinics and I've had to wait several hours to be seen. It is not worth his expertise, there are plenty other MDs that have similar experience and actually have a good bedside manner. He is old and needs to retire, he has no compassion left in his soul. I find it interesting that any negative comments have been deleted from this post. Would be nice to see all ratings. This site would have more credibility.

I traveled from NY to have surgery with Dr. Leuchter. Doctors in my area were unable or unwilling to perform organ sparing surgery, and none would attempt laparoscopic surgery for my condition...which Dr. Leuchter did (seemingly) as routine! He is a true expert - skillful, wonderful at answering questions and is unbelievably compassionate. Truly the best!

Dr. Leuchter is the most competent doctor I have ever met. Not only is he knowledgeable, he has a wonderful personality- especially for someone in the field of oncology. I have been seeing him for 10 years now, since he saved my life 10 years ago. He is always available to me to answer questions regarding my gynocological issues as well as general medical questions. Ive even received email responses to calm me down when Ive been out of the country! My famous quote to everyone is , "if only all doctors could have his knowledge and the sense to tell patients when to worry and when not to worry". I completely trust anything he says. He is a skilled, knowledgeable , physician, and I come from the healthcare field myself, and my father is a doctor as well. I have the utmost respect for him- and he has made my life much calmer when it comes to my health and medical concerns.
