I was diagnosed with an aneurysm on my aorta and was referred to Dr. MacArthur by my cardiologist. After my first meeting with Dr. MacArthur I was put at ease and felt good about going in for the recommended procedure.
I had the Bentall procedure completed November 2023. Dr. MacArthur is an excellent and very caring surgeon. He addressed all my concerns with compassion and tact. His assistant Noella is kind and handled my issue with sensitivity and care. The ICU and recovery nurses at the Mazankowsi Alberta Heart Institute are all caring and supportive. I was discharged after 6 days and 5 months later I feel great.

September 16, 2022 I suffered catastrophic heart failure that resulted when a previous mitral valve repair failed while at home. Cardiogenic heart failure resulted in emergency open heart surgery to repair the valve, but while in surgery I suffered from a double lung collapse. I survived this and came out on ECMO life support and spent over 2 months in cardiac ICU, I had a lot of interventions, including dialysis, along with suffering from a stroke. Dr. MacArthur saved my life. And anybody with heart issues needing surgery is in the best possible hands.

I came in the UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA in 2006 from an artifical aorta fistula as my aorta was plummed to my stomach artery and as it became infected it eroded directly into my stomach resulting in intense internal bleeding and in need of immediate medical intervention. As my situation was rather unique and rare, he quickly amassed a team of surgeons as to provide me an adequate solution to a very complex problem. As you can tell, I am alive today because of him, and without his ability to think outside the box, I would be 6 feet under. Time was of the essence and he didn't waste anytime and utilized every second he had to give me the best care possible.

Lastly he came to my bedside almost daily despite his busy schedule and kept track of my progress. He didn't have to, and that being said it truly reflected well on his character. God bless him.

Our Cardiologist referred us to Dr.Mac Arthur.
My husband's aortic valve surgery was done last year in November. We are very much Thankful to Dr. MacArthur and his Assistant and the team.
I feel they are the Gods and angels in this world give lives to others. I know how we suffer when my husband was facing to the surgery. It is not easy to handle.
But Dr.MacArther and the Team gave us a hope for life.
We are so lucky and Thankful to have him and the team for my Husband' cardiac surgery.
God Bless for him and the team for long healthy life for save more lives...!!!

Dr. MacArthur is an amazing surgeon and a kind human. He performed an Aortic Repair and valve sparing surgery for me on 1 Feb 23. He did such a wonderful job that 9 months later I’m feeling almost 100%. He is proactive, professional, skilled, knowledgeable and extremely kind. I could not have asked for a better surgeon with a better outcome. If you are looking at heart surgery and you are lucky enough to have Dr MacArther then you’ve hit the jackpot. I cannot praise him enough. His staff is amazing and super helpful as well. They are truly lifesavers. Thank you so much.

Dr. MacArthur performed CABG on me in 2016. I didn't realize my ticker was in rough condition until I had this procedure. Everything went smooth as silk thanks to Dr. Mac and his awesome teammates. Amazing surgeon, knowledgeable, kind and a great human being. He has an amazing assistant Noella Miciak that is helpful and knowledge and very kind on all of my phone calls, and she relieved a lot of my anxiety. I highly recommend this heart surgeon to anyone.

Had aneurysm and valve replacement in January of 2019. In Thursday and home by Monday. Very professional, knowledgeable and overall nice guy. Nurses at the Manzankowski are amazing. Can't thank the entire team enough. But I may never of experienced this if it wasn't for Dr David Smyth in Leduc who discovered my heart murmur and monitored it until sending me in for more in-depth testing. Feeling great almost 2 years later.

Bentall procedure done by Dr. MacArthur and him and his staff are absolutle masters of their craft. It took seven days for me to feel like a person again. OHS and withing a week I felt fine. Very thankful to the U of A and all the staff, truly world class.
