Dr. Fromke worked with my and listened when no one else wanted to she went through three back surgeries but he only did one of those and his was the only one that gave her any relief although he did warn her no guarantees. I wish there were more doctors like Dr. Fromke. Thank you

I had spinal fusion July 2013 by Dr Fromke , came out of surgery partially paralyzed, went into inpatient rehab for about 4 weeks. Confined to wheelchair and rehab therapy for about 6 to 8 months was able to partially use a modified walker to be somewhat mobile as I lost use of my right arm and limited mobility of my legs and back. I live with a very high degree of pain in the surgical site constantly. I was working every day prior to the surgery, even the day prior to the surgery, Dr Fromke indicated I would be back to work within 4 to 6 weeks after surgery. Repeated questions to Dr Fromke as to what went wrong with the surgery, his response was always his surgical procedure was successful with no explanation as to what happened, and it may take 18 to 24 months for recovery, going on 4 years after surgery I still have not recovered from the procedure my standard of life is terrible requiring assistance with most of my personal needs. I have during my rehab met several other patients of Dr Fromke that had the same surgical procedure with the same negative outcome as I had. Dr Fromke left his practice in Knoxville late 2014 or early 2015, relocated to Bangor, Ma then again relocated to Pinehurst, NC in the fall of 2016.

In about 2006 my 85 year old mother who had osteoarthritis became bed ridden she could not sit in a chair at all or walk more than 2 or 3 steps. My niece, her grand daughter, found Dr Fromke on the internet so I called his officer and and explained that we lived in SE KY and my mother couldn't sit to ride that 75 miles. She suggested that we bring her to the emergency room in an ambulance and have them call him and he would come and see her there. She unfortunately told me the wrong hospital. I set up the ambulance and on that morning there was an ice storm in Knoxville but not here. The emergency room was so busy my mother never got into a room she laid in the hallway till after 5PM and his office was closed before she saw a doctor. I explained to him why we were there and he said he would call Dr Fromke's service but he probably wouldn't come out that late. I was beside myself! In about 15 minutes he came out and said DrFromke was in the hospital. When he came to see her and I explained the situation he said one of his patients had been brought there after an accident and he was not affiliated with that hospital anymore but he decided to come down and see her anyway. He looked at her MRI I had brought and said she had the worst back he had ever seen and there was not enough money in the world to make him do surgery! I take him we would have to get an ambulance to take her home does you seats recline in your car? I said yes. He said Maybe I can help with that. He gave her a couple of shots in her back and set her up for a test at his hospital and in 10 minutes she was in the car and ready to ride home. He gave her some prescriptions (no pain relievers) ordered home health therapy, which my mother preformed like a trooper even though you could see the pain in her face. For her test and next visit we put her in the reclining seat and the hospital met us in front of the hospital with a gurney and then after her test wheeled her to his office on the gurney. She continued with therapy and next time she saw him it was in a wheel chair and the next time was a walker. He said only come back to see him if she needs to. She never did went back to living by herself till she was 91 and passed away in in 2014 she was almost 93!! I thank God for the miracle of having Dr Fromke in that hospital that eveni ng and I thank Dr Fromke for helping her to live a good,, happy though maybe not totally pain free life for all those years IM about to call him for an appt for myself in 2016.

I had suffered with severe neck/headaches for over 30 years as a result of falls, rear end car accident, 200lb fire door hitting me in the back, and osteoarthritis. Went to two neurosurgeons throughout these years and was told
to live with the pain, take ibuprofen, prescribed pain meds, physical therapy, epidural, and basically no life. Went to work most days during this time, at a very busy and stressful office position. Many days I would tell my manager that the ibuprofen was not getting rid of the pain and would have to use prescribed hydrocodone. Finally retired in 2004 because of excruciating pain and found some relief and an improved life. Then, by chance in 2013, was speaking with a clerk in a local retail store and noted a slight scar on her neck. Being that I had so wanted to find a Neurosurgeon to fix the ruptured disks in my neck asked whom she had used to perform her surgery. And to my great delight, she gave me the name and number of Dr. Michael Fromke and what a fantastic job he did taking away my pain, none, nada, nil since Feb.2013! Love this Neurosurgeon!!

I had surgery 2011, Dr. Fromke was very compassionate to me after having a neurosurgeon up and leave the practice in the middle of waiting for my surgery. Dr. Fromkes assistant got a feel I had myelopathy from c5-6 but didn't say it to me after talking with fromke he followed my husband and I out of the room watching my walk and I heard him tell the assistant "I see it too", he showed me the MRI where my spinal cord was being crushed. He talked me through everything. It was worse when he got in finding a bone fragment going into my spinal cord. I was disappointed not given the option of non bone cadevaer use but he likely avoided it because I was already in so much pain and getting it elsewhere on my body would have harmed me. I did get disappointed that after the surgery kept hearing gurgling in the back of my head that started after a car accident a month post op. I think he thought I was afraid a possible csf leak was my thinking he messed up. To this date I have regained most of my ability to walk. Had I not had him save my life I could have died in that car accident...But I still have the gurgling with headaches. But it seems their office is closed and I don't know where he left to. But he wasn't at all nasty with me. I had the injury in the army and the VA did nothing for 8 years! I think the csf leak was caused by the accident. I thank him for saving my life no matter what and I think he was just defensive when I told him I thought something was wrong.....typical surgeon concern....But still disappointed he didn't look. Now I only have VA care from husband losing job in oilfields and it will likely never be treated under the VA so now I'll likely die from meningitis type infection left untreated. No one cares that I hear gurgling and clear liquid comes out my ears. He could have taken care of it while I had insurance.

So i had done so and that brought up more questions and concerns! when i called to get answers he told me to find another dr. to either trust him or not hedidnt need to explain every little thing!

This was our experience. We waited almost 2 hours past appointment time. We were told that the kids may have to leave the room when the Dr. comes in, which is unfair since we couldn't find a sitter. Had no choice but to bring the children. His manners are poor. The way he speaks to a person is very unprofessional. He is very unapproachable. It seemed that when we wanted to ask a question it was an inconvienence to the Dr. We will NOT return to Dr. Fromke. We will continue our search for a Dr. that is approachable, will explain things in a kind manner, and will give us all of the options available for the particular injury she suffers from.

Dr. Fromke did my surgery in 2004, ruptured disc. I did fine. Aug. 2012, I had two herniated disc plus a complete blockage of the canal (stenosis). Dr. Fromke is meticlous and a great neuro-surgeon. I trust & believe in him, and would use him again if I should have more back problems. I urge others to see Dr. Fromke if they have back problems.Personality is good BUT not the most important thing when you need a surgeon.

Dr. Fromke was my second opinion. He kept me waiting well over 2 hours. By the time I saw him I was in quite a bit of pain and although he was fast with his rapid-fire delivery, I was in too much pain to really take it in. When I asked a question, he would say, "I'll get to that". He did, "get to that." I did not use him, but I am sure he is a very fine surgeon. Having not used him I cannot judge. I chose the Minimally Invasive method, which Dr. Fromke does not do at this time. I am doing fine.
