I go to the doctor for an annual and when I need an antibiotic. I went in once and told her about odd things that I noticed since my previous appointment (a year before) that come and go. "Really? ALL that is wrong with you?" (I hope you envisioned the eye roll I received). Well, blood work came back and I had a severe vitamin deficiency and all the odd things I noticed were symptoms. "Oh, so I'm NOT the crazy hypochondriac you made me feel like I was?"
"Well, that was a lot of different symptoms that didn't seem to have any connection."

Dr. Locke has been my doctor for several years and after Monday's apt I will no longer see her again. I'm 28, saw her 7 months ago for a breast lump which thank god turned out to be nothing. I just noticed another one, same side a month ago and decided to get in this week. She advised me if this ultra sound on the 2nd lump comes back as nothing then I should just "stop" I said stop what? She said stop doing breast exams on myself....I smiled uncomfortably and said forever? She said yes forever...some women have lumpy breasts and you're probably one of them... I was in such shock that my doctor would ever tell me to never conduct a breast exam on myself again...me being in my twenties when I literally just started actually doing self exams because it's been drilled in my head about the importance of checking ourselves as women. I soon realized why she said this....she followed up by saying sometimes when you feel one it becomes an "anxious" habit and your "anxiety" causes you to check for lumps too often and basically that I would be at the doctor all the time for this??? Those words clicked so fast...she must have read in my chart that a few months ago I had see another doctor in the practice when she was unavailable for a recent span on anxiety attacks I had been having from stress of work and wedding planning....so basically she read that and completely judged me. She clearly felt the lumps and ordered ultra sounds...I am disgusted with her. All these years she had been my doctor I generally liked her...she has always come off very judgmental but she was polite and listened however she doesn't remember her patients which is a little annoying but I understand that...I have never needed to treat for anything serious just minor colds but the breast lumps we the first serious/scary times in my life. Anyway, as a doctor to tell a young patient to stop doing breast exams forever is beyond disturbing and I will NEVER see her again. I will go back to the other doctor in the practice. I have my ultra sound Friday and pray everything will be ok...please don't accept every word your doctor tells you, if it doesn't feel right then trust your gut and run for another opinion.

Dr Locke has been our family doc for almost 10 years and is FABULOUS! She is detailed, thorough, and knows her patients. She was able to quickly diagnose my cancer, got me into to see two different oncology groups that same day. I credit beating cancer due to an immediate diagnosis and treatment by Dr Locke. She's also fabulous with our kids and I'm thrilled to have her as our family physician. Nurses (especially Kim!) and office staff are great too. Do yourself and your family a favor and call Dr Locke to get in with her - you won't be sorry!

Dr. Locke is a very nice doctor. She listens attentively which is more than I can say for most rushed doctors these days. She seems new at being a doctor however and takes a while to figure out what the issue is. Still I love this woman.

Dr. Locke doesn't deserve that low rating. She is very competent and friendly. My only complaint is that even though she has been my doctor for years, she doesn't remember me from one visit to the next. She diagnosed a hernia a few years ago. I had the surgery, then saw her shortly afterward for an (unrelated) infection. She asked me why I was moving so uncomfortably. "Hernia surgery," I said. "Oh? Who diagnosed that?" LOL I don't really blame her... HMOs make it impossible to be more than a 'patient of the moment' for even the most well meaning doctor. On the positive side, Dr. Locke does have great instincts. When I had a mysterious high fever (105.5) that had no other symptoms, she was baffled. No sore throat, no runny nose, no recent wounds. She told me to hang on for a second, then returned with a rapid strep test. Sure enough, that was the culprit. --- Desk staff are pleasant and professional. I marked 4s because the service is nothing to complain about, but its not exceptional.

Locke told me I definately did not have tonsilitis or any infection. The next day I went to another doctor and was was immediately put on anti-biotics and diagnosted with a severely abcessed tonsil. Locke was not even able to diagnose a simple case of tonsilitis....how sad....
