Worst doctor I've ever had. Disrespectful! Discourteous! Unprofessional! And I have been his patient for over 7 years. NO MORE. Waited almost 50 minutes in the examination room. He never showed, so I left. Three days letter I get a certified letter from him, telling me he is no longer my doctor. I don’t know why he would behave like this. Perhaps it is because I am without insurance, and therefore he might not make as much money on my care, or perhaps he thinks he is God’s gift to the medical profession and his elevated status doesn’t allow him to be bothered with the needs of the patient, or perhaps he simply doesn’t give a frock. I ve been diabetic since 2005. After begging my primary Dr Paulus, for years, she gave me a referral to see him. EVERYONE but EVERYONE recommends him! Dr Perez is an institution in Sarasota.
It is not the endocrinologist s fault that people are diabetic.
This is the best MD in Sarasota!! We are Blessed to have him here, and he does CARE immensely about people! I am an RN also for >30 years. Sarasota IS loaded with questionable doctors.
Don't not go to Dr Perez because he marked normal on your activity level when you had a cane. 😂
I also could not afford my insulin when I began. He tried 4 other insulins and even got pharmacy specific to help me buy it. He has a heart of pure gold. The nurses in the office have a remarkable working knowledge of diabetes, also. And they CARE ABOUT YOU.
Just try to get an appointment - it will take a couple to 3 months. It's because the man actually talks to you . I have lost > 40 pounds since my first visit by following to the T what he says.
The man is a genius- give him a chance and you will love him.
You will look forward to your visits, too.

He is the worse doctor ever! At first he was pretty good. He put me on a medication that had my blood sugar going in the right direction. I lost 80+ pounds and felt better than ever then I had an issue with money to get my medications and my blood sugar started going up. I tried to explain to him that our problem has been fixed and that I would be able to go back on what he had me on but he wouldn't listen to me so he put me on insulin and I gained all that weight back. When I try to talk to him about the weight he just got mad and said he's the doctor and I am the patient and he knows more than I do. Now just like I told him I am right back to over 200+ and he totally ignored me.

I have been 100% impressed with Dr. Perez and his staff. As a new patient I felt that he took all the time that I needed and answered all my questions very detailed. I Had to wait a little bit but for the care that I got I don't mind at all. His staff was extremely friendly and helpful as well. I would recommend Dr. Perez to everyone.

Very frustrated with him and his staff. As a type 1 diabetic my prescriptions are very important. The fact that it takes 72 hours for his staff to write a new prescription when one expires or when a refill runs out is ridiculous. After calling and informing them i was completely out of my prescription and needed it to be filled that day, i was told they would put it as a priority status for the nurse. A day later i still had to call yet again and ask for the prescription to be sent to the pharmacy. If i had more options for diabetic care i would definitely try to see somebody else.

The bureaucratic approach to get an appointment should have signaled me that I was not in for a meaningful doctor experience. When I needed to talk or meet directly with the doctor because of an emergency, I was shunted to a nurse who then relayed, incompletely , my situation. The result was dangerous recommendations for treatment from a doctor too busy to deal directly with the patient. Avoid

Dr. Perez has never been caring. He explained my options but was never interested in alternative treatments. This year I began a twice yearly injection called Prolia, an injection given in the office by one of the staff. The nurse did not wear gloves. As she prepared the injection I asked if she would wear gloves. She said that it was not necessary. I said I would feel more comfortable if she did. She again said there wasn't a need for it, AND, she continued, IT WOULD BE MORE FOR MY (the nurses) PROTECTION THAN IT WOULD BE FOR YOU! (Me). The next day I telephoned the office and asked to speak to the office manager. No one would return my calls. I finally said I simply wanted to ask the office policy on wearing gloves when injections were given. Finally I was telephone and was told for an injection it is not policy to wear gloves. Several months passed. This morning I received a registered letter informing me that Dr. Jesus Perez no longer wishes to treat me in his practice.

Dr. Perez is smart, knowledgeable, informed, personable, well trained. He was thorough with his diagnostics.He is one of the best doctors I have found in Sarasota. Based on experiences with other doctors, Sarasota is a haven for bad medicine. I highly recommend Dr. Perez.
