At first, Dr. Al-Tawil seemed like a blessing for our child with UC. Now, he's very inconsitent and sometimes rude. He isn't the same doctor he was 2 years ago. It seems if my husband comes along, we are treated differently. At our last visit, he didn't even make eye contact with us and all he could recommend was another scope, even though we're not having any symptoms right now. We just pray that we get him on one of his "good" days now.

My daughter had been sick for awhile. She had previously seen another GI specialist. She kept putting her symptoms aside. So her regular ped. said it was time for a second opinion. So they sent us to ETCH. My daughter by this time had started going down hill very fast. Dr. At-wil was wonderful he was with us every step. She had to be admitted again a week ago for a week. The diagnoses was not pleasant but he told us if we wanted to get another 2nd opinon would could and he would get all her papers together and send us to cinicinati but we told him we trusted his opinion because he has been so open and honest with us. He is truley a caring doctor!! We love him dearly

I will not be returning to this practice! I was told my daughter needed an ileostomy and they tried to scare me into doing surgery right away. I went to Cincinnati for a second opinion and they said "no way" it is not the next treatment option and they would not recommend surgery at this time and hopefully never. WOW! Everytime they asked us to do something, like start Remicade, they (the practice and him)tried to scare you into doing it their way. When I told him I wanted to get a second opionion from Cincinnati and CHOPS he said ok, but he would discharge us as a patient if I wanted to go locally. Beware and always get a second opinion re: treatment, especially with Crohn's, Cincinnati is #3 in the country and only a 3hr drive from Knoxville. It is well worth your child's health with a life long disease!

Dr. Al-Tawil was great with our daughter. She had been sick for awhile and her previous gastro. Dr had just laid her symptoms aside. So we went to ETCH and seen Dr. AlTawil...he was so caring with us and our daughter and made sure we knew what was going on and why. Unfortunatly it looks to be Crohns but at least we know.
