Careless staff who doesn’t pick calls, neither respond to email. Even with multiple follow ups, doesn’t even respond. Doctor charges additional money for body scanning without informing the patients.

One of the most obnoxious, rude men I've ever had the displeasure to meet.

After being kept waiting beyond my scheduled appointment time, I found Dr. Akil to be brusque and condescending. His staff seemed intimidated by him. I won't be returning to his office.

Dr Akil is my personal doctor for everything. I see him first before I go to a specialist. There is nothing I can't talk about with him and he's always a phone call away. Besides the doctor who brought me into the world, if it weren't for Dr Akil I would mot be writing this.

I moved to Los Angeles in 2000, and began seeing Bisher almost immediately. I had previously the man I thought was the biggest of Big, and King in the HIV world. When I told Dr Dennis Israelski I was going to LA,.. He said, "the only Doctor better than me is Bisher Akil.~ He was right. Bisher, Synonamous with LOVE~COMPASSION~INTEGRITY~HONOR~BRILLIANCE~EXCELLENCE~EXTREMELY SKILLED~OVER QUALIFIED~AN ANGLE~GOD SEND~LIFE SAVER!LIFE GIVER!~A GIFT! BISHER HAS PROVIDED ME WITH THE BEST CARE AVAILABLE TO MAN. My partner and I ower our lives to Him, and am so thankful this man is willing to commute weekly between NY, and LA. That his dedication to me is unlike any other. Phone calls in the middle of the night~text messages~emails~ I know I've been a pain in the ass NEVERTHELESS he ie there. at every surgery, hospitalization, emergency, Not even related to HIV~ He is there. One day, I will repay your DEVOTION, if it takes all I have. We, I love you Bisher, Michael B & Sean K 11 yrs with You!

I have found Bisher to be a great physician. I've seen him now for 4 years, both in NYC and LA. He is extremely knowledgable, plugged into some of the latest clinical trials, interested, listen well, provides insightful comments and suggestions, always allows me to make the decisions, but only if I have enough knowledge to make the decision wisely and has introduced me to new treatments and options. I give him an A+.

Dr. Akil is a nice enough man and seems to be a knowledgable doctor. I was referred by another doctor to see him for my HIV as I was told he's an HIV- specialist and internal medicine doctor. I was impressed that he spent nearly an hour with me (after waiting 30 minutes for him while undressed in a room). I was left wondering about some of the things he mentioned so I looked him up after my appointment and was disappointed to learn that he is neither board certified in internal medicine, family medicine or infectious diseases (for HIV). I was also told that he refers his patients to Roosevelt hospital but this is not the case, as I called and checked up and found out that he is not on staff there. In fact, he's not on staff anywhere in New York. For an HIV doctor, this is unthinkable. I really like him but am not willing to risk my life on a non-boarded doctor with no hospital privileges.
