am only leaving one star because zero stars is not an option. Never in all my years of working in the medical field or seeing physicians personally have I ever been completely dismissed by a provider. Dr. Kapural was the most arrogant, condescending medical provider I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with. I use the word “provider” loosely as he provided NOTHING. No exam. No pain management suggestions. Nothing. The first words out of his mouth were “WHY are you here?” My mother was referred to him by another physician for chronic knee pain that had not responded to multiple spinal procedures. Rather than even entertain a discussion regarding pain management, we were dismissed and told she needed spinal surgery. When asked what the recovery etc was involved with the recommended surgery we were again dismissed with an aggravated tone and told “You’d have to ask the neurosurgeon that.” Every question or concern that was raised was treated as an inconvenience. Dr. Kapural has ZERO bedside manner and possibly zero dignity for other humans. Anyone leaving a review of great experiences must have met with a different doctor than the one we had the misfortune of seeing today. Dr. Kapural could and would not be bothered today with my mother who just so happens to also have Alzheimer’s. Apparently you aren’t allowed to have cognitive issues AND pain. May he never need the compassion of others after not giving it seems to be his specialty not pain management. The audacity of us asking for help managing pain at The Pain Institute.

I agree with other patients, this man is an egotistical bully. He criticized my other doctors, who are excellent, at the top of their field. He is selling stimulators. He is insulting to the patient, he will not let the patient talk!! He had my symptoms all wrong because he wouldn't let me talk, he does all the talking and then abruptly walks out the door. Jerk. It is not because he has an accent, even though he does have a heavy accent and speaks in a low voice. NOT a nice PERSON. He kept telling me to Google him on the internet about how great he is and his accomplishments. Demoralizing.

I have never been more upset in my life. The other "great" reviews I have seen on here I just cannot believe. It's either that he is thst great or he either likes you on sight or hates you. If he likes you he will bend over backward for you if not he will not even let you speak and will not even speak to you just his associate. I went in for crps in my right foot the pain is unbearable at times I can't even put weight on my foot. I'd been to a foot doctor who recommended a neurologist that ran tests then recommended this guy because he said I had crps. His assistant comes in asks questions for about 10 minutes. Dr K comes in doesn't even say a word to me speaks to assistant. Dr. K asks what neurologist put me on I tell him he said oh that's the baby dose. I'm like what? So you are telling me the medicine I am on could be given a baby and all the warnings on label my dizziness and falling asleep after taking them are in my head? I wouldn't give this to my grandchild it would kill him. I was made to feel bullied because I can't take a Tylenol without it knocking me out. Then for about 5 minutes he spoke to assistant not me then he said you don't meet the criteria and out the door he goes. His assistant said he wanted to put a pain block in my foot of it works he would inbed it in my nerves in my back that would last 10 years or so. Once that guy left I fell all to prices because I have never been more embarrassed or upset in my life at my treatment as a human being. I have an upcoming appointment with him and the more I think and stress about it I just do not want to ever see this Dr again. I have enough on my plate worrying about my health, my foot, money, my nerves cannot handle another beat down from someone I am paying good money to see just like everyone else. I just do not understand, aren't doctors supposed to csre about everyone no matter their weight, social status, or skin tone? I felt the minute he walked in he disliked me and never said hello how about are you how can I help you? He didnt help me understand if I don't have crps to understand what it really is, and to understand why the nerve block above other help. I don't like meds before any body thinks that's all I was in there for I just wanted to feel understood, and understand his thinking too. He made me feel bullied, ignored, and like my money wasn't good enough. Everybody that worked in office talked about how wonderful he was when I left I was bawling my eyes out at my treatment. So who is this guy? Is he really that stupendous or the worst person ever to be a doctor? I say the worst as others do. I will find out though if he only helps certain "types" of people and the rest he is deliberately mean to.

Dr. Kapural has been treating my chronic pain for almost a year. He has changed my life! I was to the point where I believed I would be in bed at age 41 and now my daughter tells me to slow down when I'm walking. He is awesome! The procedures he has done on my hips made me a new person. Dr. Kapural is a very intelligent man and knows his work. I would recommend him to anyone with chronic pain! I'd also wait two hours to see him. He is that good. He changed my life!

Dr. Kapural is one of the most compassionate doctors I have seen. The other doctor being Dr. Evans. I don't understand the bad reviews either. I have seen so many doctor who haven't got a clue. It's a freaking relief.

If I could I would give Dr. Kapural 20 Stars! I do not understand the negative comments. I drove from Alabama to Cleveland Ohio several times to see him and then to Winston Salem NC after he moved. He listens to all your concerns and answers ALL your questions. He has spent more time with me than all my other specialists combined. He ran many teats on me right away since I had traveled so far. He tries many procedures before jumping to the most invasive.

He put me on Lyrica and Nucynta which both helped my pain TREMENDOUSLY! Lyrica is not just for Fibro or Neuropothy, it helps many different types of pain. All my other docs where just shoving hydrocodones my way when they couldn't figure me out. But, Dr. Kapural would rather find a procedure that would reduce the pai so that you don't have to take pain meds. And that is exactly what I wanted.

He even gives you his EMAIL if you have questions before your procedure!!! And he actually emails you back very quickly answering all your questions and encourages you to email back if you have any more concerns. HOW MANY doctors do that? I have NEVER had another doctor do that. Heck, I can't even get my family doctor's nurse to return a phone call.

He is Croatian and has an accent but it is NOT difficult for me to understand at all. I have had many other Indian, Asian, etc., doctors that I could barely understand.

Dr. Kapural just implanted a Spinal Nerve Stimulator in me and when he closed the incision he used a stitch and ligature like plastic surgeons so that my scar was minimized. He cares that much. And when he first did my trial stimulator he even called a Pain Managment Doctor in my area to pull the leads out and do a wound check so I didn't have to come all the way back to NC. He actually looked him up and called him WHILE sitting in the recovery room with me. He talked to him and set everything up.

He is far and above the best and most caring doctor I have ever seen for my pain and I have been to lots of specialists at big hospitals such as East Alabama, UAB, Trinity, Johns Hopkins, Cleveland Clinic, and Wake Forest. And my pain is from Gastrointestinal Birth Defects and other Gastro problems. It is referred pain in my back from the Gastro System so it is not easy to treat.

I don't understand the negative reviews. I went to the head of Gastroenterology at a huge hospital once after they performed a surgery that didn't help and the doctor said, "What can I tell you, take the Cymbalta and the pain meds and in 20 years you might not hurt anymore." WHAT?!?! That is SO OPPOSITE of Dr. Kapural!! I will be forever grateful to him!

Dr. Kapural would not let me speak, refused to let me continue my oxycodone I've been on for IC for 4yrs.. Said I either let him change it to MS contin (which I hate, makes me feel horrible) or I get nothing. I said I cant take the morphine, and he literally said then I get nothing, to come back in Sept for some kinda nerve procedure? And to just have my psychiatrist up my antidepressants, its "helps the pain". WHAT? ? I'm in chronic pain on a daily basis and he did NOT care. He said he absolutely refuses to prescribe oxycodone, its "too much and too addictive". I've been on it long enough to know what helps my pain! Morphine is more addicting!! His way or no way. He isn't compasaionate at all. I left crying. Now I have to wait another 2 months trying to get into another pain clinic. My urologist cant up my oxycodone anymore, a pain clinic doc has too and my urologist assured me the pain doc would do that for me, but instead he argued with me! ! Dont waste your time on this man.

I waited almost hour and 1/2 before seeing him and and i was early to my appt., then i was put in a curtained room not a enclosed room and he did not listen to me just kept repeating that i was fat and morbidly obese and treated me like i was a druggy when I just moved here from another state and was just trying to locate a new pain managment doctor...It will not be him after the way he degraded me and did not listen to what I had to say and pushed for me to use a patch to help lose weight and I felt I was not given privacy patient/doctor confidentiality with him being in a curtain room in a clinic where others heard all that was said. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone he is a poor excuse for a pain doctor and should think of his patients and listen to them instead of guessing.

This is the absolute WORST doctor I've ever met in my entire life. I have a disease that causes me CHRONIC SEVERE PAIN. I had been taking the same medications for several years. Moved to this PATHETIC excuse for a doctor due to distance. He CUT me of in MID sentence didn't want to hear anything I had to say. HE MUST HAVE THE SAME SCRIPT writing with everyone. LYRICA and FETANAYL patches. In which the LYRICA is NOWHERE near the medication I need. He's the WORST doctor. I do NOT EVEN know why he's a doctor. He's rude, disrespectful, and you can't understand a SINGLE word he says. NOT TO MENTION he WILL NOT let you speak. I see it this way, I'm THE PATIENT he's THE DR. HE WORKS FOR ME, LISTEN TO ME. I wouldn't send an animal to see this lowlife doctor. Can't ask him a single question. I left his office in tears. PLEASE do not waste your time seeing this doctor. Staff is wonderful. Doctor is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! May God have his day with this doctor so he can suffer as we do.
