They are all nice to your face but talk about patients in front of other patients and the whole office discusses the money they are making off of you in front of you and argues about it.

The first comment I see on here before mine made me laugh out loud because I can totally see this doctor bragging about his squat capacity, while he and his (ex ? and separately current?)wife fight about how much she should be paid while patients are sitting on the table.

There’s a failure of professionalism and lack of artistic eye. Go elsewhere.

I do not recommend Dr Fernau for rhinoplasty such as the one I chose him for. I had deviated cartilage AND bone. Fernau was very nice to me, as was his staff. I requested the hump on my nose to be taken down and for my nose to be straightened. He recommended a septoplasty, as well, as he could see inner problems that I could not. Everything was fine until immediately after the procedure. This is where I noticed something was off about this practice and this doctor. They were never on time. They would schedule me and then when I would show up there would be no one there and the door locked. The doctor chose to disclose oddities about him; how he spent thousands of dollars a month on supplements for his supposed long covid symptoms that included feeling no emotions. That he could leg squat a thousand pounds at one point. That the healthcare and plastic surgery industry was corrupt beyond what I could fathom. There was a post op bleed that he was very good about taking care of and also the beginning of an infection at the top of my nose which he nipped in the butt immediately. Once the nose cast came off and the swelling dissipated I noticed the bone structure had not changed at all. I reached out and expressed my concern. He agreed that indeed, there was concern about the outcome. I went to his office and he offered a free revision. Wonderful! But alas, this is where things really went badly and why I will never recommend this practice. As we approached closer to the surgery date, I noticed no one was reaching out to me (pre surgical clearance papers, consultation for discussing location of surgery etc) and whenever I would call the office manager would give me some story about Fernau not being able to lock in my surgery location. Several weeks passed with me reaching out and receiving the same excuse. A few weeks before the supposed date, they canceled the surgery and I told them to please reach out once things were set straight. I never heard back from them. It has been over 7 months, now. I would not go back to them even for free, now.

His own staff says he’s horrible, they just won’t tell him to his face. He is always late! Never on time. Schedules procedures knowing he shouldn’t because he has other obligations besides caring for the patient. He never follows up, and honestly doesn’t measure you properly for your implants! He’s an absolute disgrace to the plastic surgery world.

Red flag #1.. most of his 5 star ratings are about his office staff and not the surgeon himself. How many patients get on a doctor review site to review front staff? Not to mention he is related to people who work in the office. These people aren’t nice, as I overheard the blonde girl at the front desk call a patient crazy for disputing the price of a procedure. Chose a different surgeon needless to say. You should too.

This doctor for sure is a joke has zero regard for patient safety and respect for patients I worked for a plastic surgeon and confidently say if you want good work and care bout your life and body pay the extra and go else where he's not worth it I've also never ever seen where a PLASTIC SURGEON AND A NURSE who keep in mind is his wife play a role or a anesthesiologist which is out of scope of practice which is highly illegal. The moment you tell him you caught all the bs he did wrong comes up with 12 different excuses and lies. The moment state he did a crap job he will "fire" you as a patient 1 to 2 days AFTER SURGERY so now refusing medical care which is also illegal. Red flag number 3 is the moment you put a bad review he will take them down to make him look like amazing doctor. He's also a con artist you can pay for a procedure and wake up and realize it was never even done and refuses to refund the money. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE spend a couple extra dollars and go else where cause this piece of sorry excuse of a doctor could cost yours.

I almost lost my life…Almost a year ago today I underwent liposuction and a Bbl by Dr Fernau. Dr Fernau and his WIFE the nurse, administered Oral Valium, Oral Versed, IM Midazolam, IM Versed and IM Ketamine AT THE SAME TIME to sedate me. There is no anesthesiologist present. It does not take a genius to realize someone who does not use drugs /someone with zero tolerance would be OVERDOSED, and I indeed was. When I woke up at 11PM (surgery was at 8a) that night I had blurred vision, confusion & no recollection of what happened. My best friend of 20+ years was my driver for the die and told me after overdosing me they did not keep me for any monitoring (I am an RN myself this is majorly wrong & dangerous), booted me out of the facility only 1.5 hrs after surgery started & because I was so incoherent, placed me in the back of my SUV Unseatbelted and sent me on my way, NEVER TELLING my friend what drugs were administered, or the fact a reversal agent had been given. My friend said I was flaccid ,breathing shallow, & mostly unresponsive. She debated calling 911 & said it was clear something was wrong. I called Dr Fernaus office the next day to figure out WTH HAppened which is when Sheila told me I was overdosed and they had given me a reversal agent. I flipped out and asked why I was booted out of the facility with no monitoring period, and expressed to her the dangers of not only sending me with a non medical professional, placing me in the back of an SUV with no seatbelt, but also in the event of needing to call 911 the ER doctors would have no clue what was in my system and may have given me something that interacted with these drugs. Dr Fernau also messed up my results as the lipo job was horrible and made me more self conscious. He promised me a free revision. Fast forward about a year later (yesterday) with NO SEDATION because he clearly cannot calculate safe dosages, I let him fix the lipo areas. I did pay a fee to have him lipo a new area. When I got home and examined myself I realized he did NOT even lipo the area I paid for. STAY FAR AWAY from this doctor. He is greedy and NOT about patient safety as he claims to be. Cosmetic surgery is never worth losing your life. I regret it so much.

Absolutely terrible. Do not give this doctor your money. Very long story short, had a rhinoplasty done by him and he messed it up, required a second surgery and still messed it up. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Dr Fernau did an upper lip lift on me. My nostrils looked flared now. He cut away the entire base of my nose . When I tried to talk to him about it he told me it looked great. Looking like I have the nostrils of a racehorse does not look great. I have an appointment with another plastic surgeon hoping he can help to minimize the damage dr fernau did.
