This is a gratitude and appreciation note to Dr. Hentschel. May 1/24 I will be 1 year post-op of my second craniotomy in 2023. .My first was on February 13 for a craniopharyngioma which a scan found in December 2023. I was due to fly to Mexico 2 days after I got this news. We cancelled our winter plans and I got booked for surgery. The tumour was pressing on my optic nerve and causing blurry vision. It is life changing how so much trust went to my neurosurgeon after a couple of phone call and a short meeting just pre op. Recovery went very well and my vision improved. Several weeks later the blurriness returned. My tumour is not cancerous but it can not be removed. I had 60 radiation treatments in late summer and a resent scan shows no new growth. I have had incredible support and follow ups. My surgeries have changed my life in a most positive way. I am clearly aware that one only lives the present moment. Dr. H. is personable and opened my head twice. Those experiences have increased my awareness and appreciation for my beautiful and happy life. Many thanks, Isabelle

Very sweet fellow... he has compassion.
I just wished he never cut my neck in half.
It should have been observed--none of my tumors grew in 30 years and I am in agony and disabled from surgery. Think before you let them manipulate your body--your life. Ask for other opinions which they try to stifle.

Dr Hentschel is a polite, kind, experienced and responsible surgeon.
He responded all my questions before the surgery that caused my stress reduced.
I had one brain surgery last month by him.
I’m so happy after one month and I completely achieved to my healthy.
I appreciate Dr Hentschel and his team.

I have my surgery on my spinal stenosis scheduled for February. I talked to Dr. Hentschel today. We talked about the surgery. He was very pleasant and answered all my questions. He said to call if I had any other questions about the surgery and he would call me back. I know there is only a 50/50 chance but I am only 69 and hopefully have a long life ahead of me. I don’t have expectations of being pain free but possibly having less pain. He seemed both caring and efficient, which I like in a doctor.

Today I had a very pleasant telephone call from Dr. Hentschel after my recent brain MRI. Dr. Hentschel is very professional and pleasant to talk to. In July 2014 Dr Hentschel removed a benign tumor from my pituitary gland in a very delicate surgery. I am forever grateful for his skill in removing the tumor that was affecting my vision. My vision was fully restored after his surgery! 7 years later there is still no sign of re-growth and that is wonderful news! This man could easily add an epilogue to "Doctor Mengele's tips on bedside manner". I truly felt like cattle today. Please pray that my husband survives his biopsy tomorrow. No reason he shouldn't... Hopefully his ethics and professionalism with trump his beside manner. My husband just got a brain tumor btw... I'm already destroyed. I did not deserve that attitude. I'm still traumatized. I can't even believe what I heard. Fortunately it was on speaker phone and I have witnesses. Would love an advocate with leverage tonight!

On Nov 30th Dr. Hentschel operated on my lower spine. Prior to the surgery I was in extreme pain and at times couldn't even get into bed. I spent many nights in a recliner chair. Since the surgery I have been completely pain free.
Dr. Hentschel did not sugarcoat the diagnosis and advised me that my chances were 50-50 in getting pain relief but in the condition I was in I felt I had nnothing to lose He has literally given me a new lease on life.
In both my in person and phone discussions he at no time gave me the impression he was not interested in my condition .He patiently answered my questions and in fact I enjoyed talking to him In my opinion both he and his staff deserve 5 star ratings

My first phone call with Dr. Stephen Hentschel left me wondering if I wanted to even proceed with this Dr. or just hang up. He was abrupt and made me feel that I was stupid. Then after my scan he seemed better and happy to operate after a few questions. Tough call . But my GP said that is the way he is . So we will see how it all plays out. The lady that works for him is nice though.

I had Dr. Hentschel some time ago do surgery on my Spinal Stenosis I was in and out of the hospital in 2 days. Excellent care, excellent surgeon and very kind and caring. I didn't know that this site was available or would have written sooner! Thank You, Dr. Hentschel,

I met Dr. Hentschel for the first time when I ended up in the ER. He reviewed my MRI and explained to me the type of brain tumor I had, and said so let's get rid of that. 3 days later on the Monday I had surgery, was up and walking on the Tuesday and home on the Friday. Dr. Hentschel was nothing but calming, and I wasn't worried about the surgery at all. He called me the following week with the pathology report, and advised that he was going to do some further follow-up as I previously had radiation. I have a further follow-up MRI scheduled and a follow-up appointment with Dr. Hentschel. I have nothing but respect for this doctor.
