Staff is amazing, kind and caring. Dr. Carucci zips in and out. I never had an in depth, sit down consultation, so I did not know what to expect all along the way. Went from removing a basal cell, to having a cheek flap attached to me nose and cartlidge removed from my ear, all in the same day! All he said was - "now we are going to put you back together." I had no idea what that meant. He is very breezy with his explanations. Two weeks later, flap removal (which is sheer torture!
To more stitches, to suture removal. All sort of a world wind. I felt like I was not given choices. It was almost like a Dr. knows best and please do not question me attitude. Oh, did I mention I was never given the option to have any type of sedation? No IV, no twilight, no valium - nothing! All this facial cutting and pushing and pulling and snipping done with just a local!!! His staff is just lovely, kind, caring and compassionate. I just felt like I was not given any choices. I am praying for minimal scarring. They said that could take 12-18 months. I am still swollen and have internal sutures which should eventually dissolve. I believe Dr. Carucci knows his stuff, but I just wish there was more and better communication along the way. better communication along the way. Just ask lots of questions!

Butcher...operated on me with a cleaver. I had a pimple sized BCC, and he made a 5-inch cut. AVOID.

I had a horrible experience with Dr. John Carucci. He was recommended to me as head of MOHS surgery at NYU. I went to him with an almost invisible BCC on my face. He was at first breezy and dismissive of any concerns, leading me to believe the operation was simple and minimal. The reality was a horror show. He removed a big chunk of flesh with one cut. Then plastic surgery and almost 30 stitches to close it up. Then I got to wait around for hours until the lab report came back negative. He acted like everything was just fine. I was shocked and devastated and felt like I had run into a buzz saw. It was days before I would return to work, and weeks until the swelling went down. Almost a year later the scar is still plainly visible. At the very least, he completely failed to prepare me for the experience. There was also not any mention of not doing the surgery, which in retrospect I would not have done since BCC almost never metastasizes, and the whole point of doing it is to avoid it growing and disfiguring your face, which is what he did to me anyway! There was also no incremental MOHS procedure that I could see. He just went straight for the quick kill and bill for two procedures (MOHS + plastic surgery). Every other person I have met that has had MOHS surgery with other doctors had a much better experience. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Nose butcher. Keep your face away from this man. Have huge ugly scar from top of nose to between my nostrils. He cut cartilege, shortened my nose, enlarged nostrils, all for a tiny BCC that came out clean with the first cut. STAY AWAY. Read his other reviews. I am not the only butchered patient.

Dr. Carucci has treated me using MOHS surgery more than once. He and his staff have been professional and kind. I feel at home when I am there. Therefore, I highly recommend this practice.

I refused surgery and he was really unhelpful once I refused. He seemed uninterested and detached.

He's a good doc but I waited an hour and a half for my procedure and an hour for follow-ups. That's just bad management.
