I found the staff and physicians at New York Presbyterian to be impudent, scurrilous, impertinent and boorish. The doctors and staff are keen, nimble and swift in sidestepping concerns and questions. Staff is well versed in segregating patients from family in order to inhibit patient from seeking explanation and consequences of all paperwork being signed. Additionally, I found physicians and staff prevented patient from making informed consent by providing patient with drug information that omitted latest FDA serious side effect material. When concerns raised about serious side effects of the drug, Dr. C. Joy Somberg mocked family member with reply "What do you want to prescribe." I observed patient gave up rights to many freedoms including the right to leave the hospital when they voluntarily admitted them self. In words of Dr. Thomas Szasz, professor emeritus of psychiatry at the State University of New York Upstate Medical Center and recipient of over fifty awards including Humanist Laureate Award and the Great Lakes Association of Clinical Medicine Patients' Rights Advocate Award said this type of incarceration violates "the general assumptions of the patient-doctor relationship, and turned the doctor into a warden and keeper of a prison." Finally, I have to question the intellectual acumen of the hospital administration when they decide to block all handicap parking in order to repaint the disabled parking spaces.

Very boring place for kids. They have them watch a lot of tv and don't let them do much., almost like they in a prison. My child became more depressed there and felt so uncomfotable. There is basically no therapy and it is almost as if it is a child care setting. Doctors don't try to form relationship with patients and therapist has an annoying attitude. If I had to hospitalize my teen again, i would definitely check other places before this one.
