I was a patient of DR. Robert Barnes prior to his move to what is the CMG on Bow Pointe dr. He actually replaced one of the best physicians I have ever been attended to by. Prior to DR. Barnes leaving this small office oriented practice around the corner from the mega complex he is at now, I was quite satisfied with my experiences with him and his excellent medical assistant Tracy. Very much so. It wasn't perfect by any means, and I fully realize you will never find perfection, but he was truly both effective, and personable, in the treatment of myself, and my family. That was roughly twenty years ago. Since his move, in mine and my family's experiences, it has been both a disastrously unprofessional, and an ultimately ineffective move for the worse. As everyone knows, DR. Barnes is ridiculously beyond his means with respect to both his patient count, and his blanket diagnostic responsibilities within this new Clarkston Medical Group orientation. It is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to see DR. Barnes without dedicating an entire day to the affair due to he and his staff being at a very minimum, predictably, 1.5 hours behind schedule. Not to mention the fact that the staff seem to change like the weather in Michigan. Three times I have personally been referred to physicians within his network that he has recommended to me, and every time those experiences resulted in immense disappointment. What has happened to the genuine concepts of astringent integrity, and a sincere level of dedication to a personable bedside manner within the medical profession? Sadly, it has been my experience that you will find neither while being attended to by DR. Barnes within the CMG, which is really just one big "take a number" corporate machine. This is NOT a slam against DR. Barnes personally, as I believe he is both a kindhearted man, and a reasonably good physician that works very hard at his profession. It is however, an absolutely accurate assessment of what has become of his association within the Clarkston Medical Group due to mine and my family's subsequent experiences within as much.

I've been very happy with Dr. Barnes. The office he works out of is busy, but that could just be a sign of a popular doctor! Love the PAs and nurses.

Fairly good doctor, BUT 3 1/2 weeks to get a regular appointment without having him ok it first is totally unacceptable. Also, was passed off to a Physician's Assistant who diagnosed me incorrectly. Do not recommend this group.

Dr. Barnes is good when you actually see him. If you are sick and cannot wait several days for an appointment then you are always offered an appointment with a Physician's Assistant(PA). In addition, its not always with the same PA because there are many. Because you don't see Dr Barnes or the same PA with each visit you are treated like a new patient by each new PA that you see(providing medical history, etc). I have found that his PA's are less sensitive and somewhat rude. I don't feel that I should have to beg for care. Beyond that, I prefer seeing a Doctor over a PA as they are unarguably more qualified and generally are more intelligent. I'm sure the PA's are helping the practice make higher profits but the quality of care has been sacrificed. After seeing Dr. Barnes for approximately 10 years, I have decided to find a new doctor that does not utilize PA's to do their job.

Dr. Barnes seems to know his stuff. However, he is not very aggressive with his care. The staff is rude and often shows little care. When you go to see him it is a mini hospital no personal care. This office leans on their after hours group way to much. I want to see my doctor when I am not feeling well.

Dr. Barnes always takes the time to listen to what I have to say. He never just makes a diagnosis without even looking at me. He tried to make sure you are able to afford the medication he is prescribing and he follows up with you when he says he will. I have never had better doctor. I do not feel as if I am waisting his time or boring him like I have with some other doctors. I feel as if he cares about me as a person not just the next person he has to see that day. I have always been helped after being treated by Dr. Barnes

Love the doctor, don't like the Medical Center he works out of. He is extremely thorough and knows his stuff. Doesn't just write a perscription and send you on your way. Takes time to get all the facts. Would recommend him! His Medical Assistant is very helpful also (Mary Ann).

Dr. Barnes is a great doctor. He never rushes you, listens to you and gives you the personal attention that has practically disappeared this day and age.
