Dr Neuwirth did my spinal fusion two years ago and I am back to all activities including yoga. After seeing a local doctor for one year, Dr Neuwirth found the cyst that was pushing on my sciatic nerve, removed it, fused and pain was gone immediately. He and his staff were caring and helpful before and after the surgery. I had to post this after experiencing such a poor experience with a local doctor today. Great doctors like Dr. Neuwirth are not easy to find!

Dr. Neuwirth is a superb surgeon. I entrusted him with my daughter's scoliosis surgery, after many years with another doctor. The surgery was very successful. He treated my daughter for 5 years thereafter. His bedside manner and respect for the patient, even a young one, are wonderful. My daughter and I will always be very grateful to him. We also very much enjoyed his staff.

botched a 3 level spinal fusion on me. the most common comment by colleague surgeons at HSS, Columbia, and elsewhere is "How could Neuwirth NOT give you any lordotic curve when fusing your lower spine? (L3-S1) almost straight up and down. No lordosis

I was a career trailer truck driver and an avid golfer (6 usga hcp ). One morning I couldn't lift the coffee pot. I went to my family doctor, who sent me for an mri. The results were not good after an emg, I was told that if I didn't get this taken care of immediately I could lose the motion in my right arm. I immediately contacted Dr.Neuwirth's office to make an appointment with the doctor that repaired my wifes lower spine. Needless to say the good doctor laid out a plan, scheduled my surgery removed 3 discs, replacing them with spacers and a titanium cage, bone graphs and expert care after my surgery I was able to return to work and more importantly my golf, as I am now enjoying my retirement.

I've had two failed spinal fusion surgeries, with a discovery of a Staph infection during a surgery midway between the fusions. Information was withheld from me, such as telling me my psoriatic arthritis compromised the surgery, leading to broken rods and deteriorating screws. I had terrible experiences during recovery, and I have a worse curve than before I started. And the funny thing is, I asked what will happen if I don't have the surgery? His answer was pain and deformity. Well, I am very deformed now. I am hunched over, and very handicapped. I have to put my fist under my chin for the purpose of walking with more balance. The hospital experience(Beth Isreal), was horrible as well. Four years of my life taken away for failed results. I could not imagine ending up a cripple with Dr. Neuwirth's great reputation. I am absolutely miserable about the way I look, and how I have to use scooters and/or wheelchairs if there is a lot of walking to be done.

My daughter had grade 5 spindelitisis surgery in 2001. She was a gymnast and couldn't even walk. We took her to see 5 doctors. Thank god we chose Dr. Neuwirth. She is 24 now with full range of motion and without any pain. In my opinion he is the Best Orthopaedic Surgeon in the country!!

I had scoliosis surgery from him when I was 12 I am now 22. I have no problems 10 years later. He is a great man, made everything absolutely comfortable for me and my family. I was in and out of the hospital 3 days, and recovered very quickly. Best surgeon in the world.
