I have been a patient of Doctor Michael Kaplan for 15-20 years, during which time I have undergone many surgical procedures including Trans Urethral Ablation (Tuna), and biopsy. I know him to be not only a superlative urologist but a kind and thoughtful human being. He is simply a good man, both professionally and personally. A jury has spoken, they have found him guilty of reusing surgical guides that were to be used only once. Because the evidence is there, I accept that verdict, but I agree with Dr. Kaplan's attorney, Mr. Gentile, that this case should not have been brought to trial. Less severe measures were more appropriate. To make an example of this good man, where there is no evidence of any patient having been injured is a shame. I also must make a comment on the kindness of at least one member of Dr. Kaplan's staff. After a certain surgical procedure it was necessary for me to wear a urine bag for about one week. It was both uncomfortable and sometimes quite painful when urinating. I will never forget the demeanor of the nurse (a female) who removed the urine bag. Her kindness and sympathy for my unpleasant and demeaning circumstance was truly remarkable.
When I left the office that day I made a point of writing her name in my notebook; thanks for being so nice to an old man, Tereece. Surely, we all make mistakes in our life, that's a given, and I'm sure that Dr. Kaplan will survive. And when he does, and returns to his practice, I'll be standing in line to return to his care.

I had just moved to Vegas and went to a different Urologist, he was horrible and then I found Dr. Kaplan. I have been a patient for 14 years. He was the Dr. that changed my life. I had been to several urologist between IL, Fl and NV. No one was ever able to offer me relief. I started telling the Dr. my symptoms and as soon as I finished he said you have IC and we will need a biopsy to confirm. Which it did. After 15 years of being misdiagnosed by Dr.'s around the country, he had it in 5 minutes. This changed my life in that for the first time, in many years I no longer thought I was crazy, I actually had something wrong. He tried one type of medication it didn't work and then changed me to something else which did work. I have been good ever since. I came back to Dr. Kaplan as soon as his license was reinstated because I knew he was a good Dr. My only complaint is the office staff. They aren't very helpful or compassionate. But the Dr. is and that's all that matters.

Dr. Kaplan is a "miracle doctor". I was suffering from prostate enlargement and urinary retention. I could barely pee and was suffering from painful urination, incontenance, and lower back pain. I am now pain free, I do not leak and I pee like a race horse. It truly is a miracle. Dr. Kaplan performed Green Light Laser Prostate Surgery on me. He is a most professional and caring doctor. He always took time with me, gave me great confidence and security as a patient. I just knew I was in great hands. And I was right. His staff is friendly and very helpful. My time in the waiting room was never delayed and I had a number of appointments. My only criticism was I should have been given and told to use a larger bag t night for my catheter. If you are in need of a urinary catheter, be sure you have an oversized bag for night time. Thank you Dr. Kaplan for changing my life. I remain sexually active. My wife is very thankful as well. THANK YOU FOR A JOB WELL DONE!!!!

The no scalpel vasectomy was the way to go for me, and definitely not even close to painful (just uncomfortable). His staff was really nice to me as well, and everything went as planned.

Kaplan has a reputation for being technically good, although his State of NV Med Board official record shows a reprimand and court settlement with a patient of $1.5M due to surgical error. His main experience appears to be vasectomy but he has done a bit of everything I take it. He apparently has a very high opinion of himself: his waiting room is covered with an "I love me" wall of plaques, awards, photos, etc. His manner is rather abrupt, very matter of fact, and a bit too detached for my tastes. His practice is (in) famous for its rude, inefficient, and unprofessional office staff. They probably make him seem a less competent and caring doc than he really is. But on balance, Kaplan is probably not worth the trouble to see him, his local reputation as a "doctor's doctor" is well overblown, and he lacks a healing manner. You can do better. And yes, I've seen him a number of times.
