I think he is knowledgeable in his field, but if you can’t handle waiting an hour plus to see him and his abrasive personality. You might want to look elsewhere.

Dr. Graven genuinely cares about his patients and their quality of life. He goes above and beyond to ensure you receive elite care. Because of Dr. Graven I am able to walk again. Fact 2 days after my spinal surgery I walked out of the hospital ON MY OWN. Highly recommend!
Side note: His office staff is the best of THE BEST!!!

While Dr. Graven can be a bit "gruff" at the bedside upon initial meeting, once he gets to know the patient his true personality comes out and you know he is very caring and understanding surgeon. My daughter was in a car accident and needed surgery on her spine. He was very knowledgeable and made us all feel comfortable with the decisions we needed to make. Now on follow up visits he knows her, asks about her pets and school. He is a very kind person and amazing surgeon! I would Highly recommend Dr. Graven.

I was a little hesitant, having read the negative reviews of his bedside manner, but honestly, I don't know what people are complaining about. Dr. Graven has been nothing but professional and friendly, has answered all of my questions, even took the time to phone my daughter after my surgery was over. And when I reported some post-op muscle spasms to his office staff, he called me himself to ask what was going on. I'm still less than one week post-op, but I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Graven.

Dr Graven knows his stuff but could not care less about his patients. My mom is/was his patient until the visit in which he unaware that I was with her. Mom and I were taken to an examine room by a snooty, young girl and proceeded to wait.....and wait...and wait. I went to the restroom, when I returned I stood outside of the door long enough to hear the way he spoke to her. Granted my mom isn't all there and is easily intimidated but that in no way is a reason to be talked down to. I walked in, sat down and started taking notes. Wasn't until I asked a question that he asked who I was, his demeanor changed just a bit -- it was only when he laid his greedy eyes on the rock on my finger, when he realized I guess that he was dealing with money did he become ever so pleasant. The visit ended with me telling my mom in front of Graven that there was no way I was going to continue to take her to the office of a narcissist. He then started to sputter lame excuses about having a bad day. Really?!? You're a intimidating jerk to patience when your day isn't perfect?!? Another reason why we will not be going back.

Dr. Graven performed a Si joint fusion that left my wife disabled She wlks with a cane .Avoid this Doctor.

I love Dr Graven... I had my left SI joint fused in April and it was the best thing that I have ever done . Other doctors tried injections after injections,PT after PT and medication after medication and continued to tell me I had a pulled muscle. Dr Graven found the problem , performed a non invasive surgery to fuze the SI joint and the pain was gone immediately !!! I do have numbness in my left foot and that is controlled by medication at this point. I will continue to see Dr Graven for any and all orthopedic problems if I need too. Jackie c
