I don't know what Dr. Graven you have seen, but the one I have seeing for four years is professional, cares, conservative enough to try other methods but assertive enough to do surgery. I met him five years ago at age 37 when he did a non-invasive process on me. Since then I have had two cervical neck fusions, both for the same area. Five years later we are still working together to figure out why I am not 100%. I did have three herinated discs. The first fusion did not fuse (through the front),and the second anterior fusion was REALY hard to recover from. I am still having pain and Dr. Graven takes my appt. every month with grace and kindness. I get to the point of my pain, demonstrate where it hurts, and he always does X-Rays. He listens, asks questions, and probably wants this fixed more than I do! At this point I am seeing his pain med dr and we are re-doing a series of nerve root blocks to determine next steps. Dr. Graven is the worst doctor I have ever seen. When I can finally get an appointment that isn't rescheduled due to his vacation days I spend an average of 3 minutes with him. Once I told him all of my symptoms, all of my treatments, and asked what I should do next. He responded - "Well, what do you think you should do next? - maybe Acupuncture." Are you kidding me? MAYBE? I would expect a licensed surgeon to have an idea. Thank you.

He is the worst doctor i have ever been to. He does no explain things clearly and does things fast. Does not take time to talk to the patients. He has you 45 minutes in the room and when he gets there, you are out in 7 minutes.

Dr. Graven is one of the worst doctors I have ever come in contact with. Find a doctor who listens and one whom you can trust. This doctor has neither qualities.

I agree with everyone who has been to see this Doctor. When I got out of surgery, I have never in my life had so much pain. A surgery that was to last 2 hrs, lasted 4. Then the muscles in my groin had been pulled for some reason and I want back to the hospital 3 times and they did not know what was wrong. He did a infusion on me, which he took a bone off my hip. Now I had surgery on a hernia which he knew was going to develop from it, plus now it is determined that this type of hernia can never be repaired.I look like I am now 7 mths pregnant and the baby is lying on my hip.Its terrible. Plus he never fixed my neck, now my arms, hands, fingers are numb. It is taking me an hour to write this with on finger. I walk around with tears in my eyes the pain is so bad.I cannot raise my arms, and the hernia is stressing my scholiasts. I had to give up my business, and I can not get disability. His nurses are young girls, office help are money vultures, won't treat you unless your bill is paid up

My spine surgery resulted in resolution of the initial problem but created many more. Nerve damage that was apparent immediately following surgery was largely ignored by Dr. Graven. He has a very big ego. I now have many oher issues to deal with and never felt I had the support of my surgeon.

For anything spine related avoid this Doctor, he has been desensitized by his years of service in his field and tends to overlook details, does not remember patients and what they are seeing him for and treats without reading a patients chart. In my laymen's opinion I would recomend avoiding this Doctor, there are many better Surgeons than this, this doctor is neglectful to his patients.

Dr. Graven Might be a good surgeon but without follow-up that means doodly squat. Probably one of the worst Doctors I have ever been exposed to, with exception of Military doctors.
