I just got back from my first appointment with Dr. Myshka. I chose the office due to its proximity to my home. I made the appointment because I was in a car accident and am having pain. I felt I needed an Xray and a chiropractic examination. I have never been so talked at and ushered through hoops, including an impersonal series of rooms, in my life. I felt very uneasy and depressed after I left--disoriented. I had to finally say to him, in the third room: There is a person over here. He was receptive, but I don't think he understood that the problem was that he was more concerned with viewing me as a personal injury case than as a person, or that he was not taking in anything that he did not need an answer to for his form. He was very insistent about a "fou-tier" list of proof of payment he would need. (My car insurance, my health insurance, the insurance of the guy who hit me, and something else. But he already had my health insurance info and the guy who hit me's. His anxiety and hypervigilance to protect himself--he said lawyers sometimes refuse to pay the doctors when cases are settled: clearly his primary focus during our appointment-- made no sense because the driver at fault was insured and is not contesting fault--he back-ended me, the police came, insurance company called me and is paying. I only have a lawyer because of other issues related to my vehicle that was impounded--a scooter. I am not suing anyone! Anyway, I am pretty confused. I may have signed a commitment to pay a huge bill between 3 and 4 hundred dollars. And all that was done was a range of motion test and Xrays. That's it. Most of the time was filled waiting and filling out forms and listening to him explaining everything he needed to do to take care of himself legally. He assumed I was taking somone to court whereas I have no interest in doing this--too stressful. This office visit in itself was too stressful for me! And I was there for exactly two hours! I have no sense of being seen or heard or cared about at all. I did sense that Dr. Myshka is intelligent, and I did not feel that he was a bad man. He just seemed extraordinarily pre-occupied and made so very many assumptions! Bad experience. Nice staff. (I read another review here that I agree with: it is true that the environment is odd--disjointed, random, no place to hang your clothes--which I was surprised I was asked to take off--at a chiropractor's??--not even a table anywhere. ) He wants to see me tomorrow to talk abou the Xrays. I am giong to call to ask if I can just pay him for the Xray. I don't want to go back. But another reviewer here said she tried to get them but the office refused to release them. Terrible experience. Don't judge my reliability as a reviewer based on the rambling nature of the review. I am rattled from the experience. He may well be a good chirpopractor--how would I know, I never got to that point to find out....

I started seeing Dr. Myshka in the beginning of May with lower back pain due to child birth and uneven hips and here it is 3 months later and I wake up pain free, something I have not done in 7 years. Most chiropractors want to treat the symptoms you are having but not inform you on the underlying problem so you can not only get better but stay better. Dr. Myshka does. He offers a spinal care class Mondays so you learn ways to protect the only spine you've got with ways to improve our every day tasks. While I was there for my appointment I over heard a couple saying they drive all the way from Mississippi to be seen by Dr. Myshka. That should say something. The front desk receptionist was very sweet and made me feel welcome. You may not agree with everything a Dr. says or does but are you there to criticize or seek help?! I would recommend this Dr. to anyone needing a truely careing doctor.

Wow, I am so alarmed after my visit to this office. I have even been considering reporting this physician. After a series of doctors visits and a trip to the ER, it was advised that I see a Chiropractor. After an hour wait, I was ushered into a series of circus-like unkempt rooms full of fish, razorbacks, bicycles, flashing charts and videos--all the while being talked at incessantly regarding payment. When I finally saw the physician, he hadn't even read my chart and began to make assumptions about my health and lifestyle which were completely off base. I was there because I was having difficulty breathing and believed to have had a rib out; rather than address the discrete issue which I needed relief from, he pressured me with a series of tricks, charts and all kinds of bizarre carnival-esque tactics to agree to a lengthy treatment program. He completely ignored the actual issue I was there for. He even walked me back through a messy labyrinth of office rooms to his billing department, because he was so worried about payment. I ended up declining treatment and leaving. The entire time I was sitting there I couldn't believe an actual physician would be so money hungry and unprofessional. High-pressure salesman as stated below, messy, unprofessional, unorganized and downright irresponsible. He did, however, seem knowledgeable and intelligent--but his struggling business and antics to get payment far overrode any professional skill he might possess. It turns out I was very sick and needed immediate medical attention. I feel sorry for elderly or less astute individuals being taken advantage of by this organization. Please do not go here.

Time to show some gratitude for a man that changed my life. Over a year ago I, disabled, was in constant pain, walked with a limp, 68 pounds heavier, low self esteem, etc. With his professional care I now have a new gait, am pain free, and carry a new sense of self esteem because quite frankly I feel good and am getting around better physically in my sixties than when diagnosed disabled in my 50's. So Have an extra turkey leg this month Dr. M. You and your staff deserve it. How about an extra slice of that pumpkin pie.

TL:DR/ THE SUMMARY - I'm a 100% satisfied client of Dr. Myshka. I travel 300+ miles to see him; totally worth it. I feel and function FAR better after being treated by Myshka. He is caring, cheerful, and professional, and his staff is too. I highly recommend Family Chiropractic Center - no reservations. Please scroll to the bottom and read "#1 reason" for info about my my continued improvement under Dr. Myshka's care.

THE REVIEW
I ran across the previous review and wanted to offer my review (that of a 100% satisfied client) as a counter to that of the disgruntled, crude, and clearly unhappy individual whom Dr. Myshka and his wonderful team chose not to hire. Personally, I am glad this person was not hired. S/he clearly would not have been a good fit for the Family Chiropractic Center's friendly, helpful, and professional team.

My long, exhaustive search for alternative treatment to a disabling, highly painful 14-year-old back problem led me to Dr. James Myshka (chiropractor extraordinaire) at Family Chiropractic Center in Fayetteville, AR. I am not especially fond of doctors; I don't trust them, because most of them treat patients like they are an inconvenience and because most docs treat symptoms of health problems, not the actual cause of the problem. Dr. Myshka treats the cause, and he is dedicated enough to hunt it down if it's not readily apparent. Who else does that these days, my friend? Precious few...

Here are the top 10 reasons I patronize Dr. Myshka's practice. Oh, and I travel from Dallas, TX to Fayetteville, AR (over 300 miles/5 hours each way – well worth it!) to be treated by him and his amazing staff:

10. HE DOESN'T BREAK MY BANK - Treatment fees are reasonable and exceptionally fair.

9. THEY TAKE MY INSURANCE - Family Chiropractic Center accepts my insurance – one that is often refused by other medical offices.

8. GREAT STAFF - The carefully-chosen staff is friendly and helpful and is clearly working together as a well-oiled machine. They are always quick to address my concerns, and they do what they say they will do. No, seriously – they do!

7. THE DOC IS HIGHLY TRAINED - Dr. Myshka has an unusually high level of training. He is a Gonstead Fellow and Diplomat – kind of like a medical doctor enduring several more years of brutal training to specialize in a particular field (say, brain surgery, for example).

6. FREE STUFF THEY OFFER - The free, after-hours courses Dr. Myshka offers to help us patients learn how our bodies work, how to care for our bodies better, and remain injury/pain free are terrific. I have a strong medical background and still learned a TON of useful, practical info!

5. NO ANNOYING SALES PITCHES OR GUILT TRIPS - The fact that Dr. Myshka and his staff never once tried to hound or guilt me into purchasing more sessions, more products, more anything was a massive bonus for me. Seriously – I DESPISE chiros who do that and have intentionally steered clear of the entire world of chiropractic until I found Family Chiropractic Center!

4. ON-TIME APPOINTMENTS - Patients are seen quickly and on time. Usually, I am in the waiting room less than five minutes. Not even joking. They were super-busy once, and I think I waited maaaaaaybe ten minutes that day.

3. CLEAR COMMUNICATION - Dr. Myshka takes the time to explain his treatments, his approach to my care, and get this – he does it in plain English that isn't condescending or insulting to my intelligence.

2. DR. MYSHKA REALLY LISTENS - Dr. Myshka actually listens to me when I tell him what's going on with my body, and he truly seems to care about helping me feel and function better. And when I asked him not to repeat an especially painful adjustment that did not appear to me to be helpful, he didn't argue or tell me to tough it out, he changed his approach immediately. And when his treatment produced unexpectedly good results (that is to say that *I* didn't expect the unexpected. I think the doctor expected miracles, but that's just how he is. No joke.), Dr. Myshka and his staff were grinning just as hard and just as big as I was.

1. AMAZING RESULTS & *HUGE* REDUCTION IN PAIN - The first time I walked into Family Chiropractic Center, I was in excruciating pain, relying heavily on a cane for support, limping profoundly, my toes pointed inward as I walked, and my back was bent forward about 30 degrees. After a series of intensive treatments over the period of a few days, I went back to Texas with about 90% LESS pain, only using my cane for balance (one of my legs doesn't work well due to permanent nerve damage), 95% less limp, my toes pointing 100% forward, and a scant 5 degrees away from walking perfectly upright.

Note that it has been a couple of months since my last treatment. I have followed Dr. Myshka's advise about how to rehab and care for my body, and as long as I follow his simple recommendations, I continue to see improvement.

I've been going to the same chiropractor for 12 years following an auto accident in 2000.For 12 years I have had more painfully uncomfortable days than not. Through a strange turn of events it became clear a second opinion might be wise. Especially after I met Dr. Myshka. I should also mention that I am a fitness fanatic and have seldom missed a workout in the past 15 years. I bring this up because my trainers also said there is something going on with my hips. So imagine my surprise when Dr. Myshka but the films on the screen for me to see and even I could see that my hips were tilted and my spine had an abnormal curve, scoliosis! Dr. Myshka immediately explained his six-week plan and went to work. By the second week I had no more pain in my shoulders and neck. He also gave me a lift to wear in my right shoe the second week, (which I accepted reluctantly) because apparently my right leg is considerably shorter. It was a bit strange at first but now I'm wishing I'd had it long ago.

This place is a hole. Office is cluttered and equipment is tattered. X-ray machine has layers of dirt on it. The woman at the front desk is less than pleasant. They also refuse to let me take my X-rays over to my primary care physician. They use some over hyped skin thermometer to take readings of your back to determine where the pain is. Really? I can tell you where it hurts! I don't need my temp taken, I need an adjustment! Also, the torturous video they make you watch while in one of their cluttered unkempt rooms before they even talk to you is a bunch of meaningless nonsense. I have never been this uncomfortable/uneasy in a medical office in my entire life. I am not even going back to get the results of the X-ray much less let them put me on one of their disintigrating tables for an adjustment. They asked me a bunch of irrelevant questions, had me watch a dumb video, took my skin temperature, had me bend six ways to Sunday and charged me $265. RIP OFF DO NOT GO HERE.

This guy was terrible i went in for mid back pain on the premise that the first visit was $75 and then he starts with xrays, and wanted me to get blood work and heel lifts and made me watch a video about how i eat affects my whole body health and then tried to set up a schedule of visits 3 times a week for a month. So i did the xray he "read" them and cracked my back a few times and it didnt help. So i talk to my regular family doc and he wanted to see the xrays this "chiropractor" had taken so i called and the office manager tells me they cant give me MY records. Myshka wanted me to come back and get more therapy then do more xrays. I went to the office and got into an argument with the rude office manager. It was the worst experience with a supposed health professional ive ever had and would never recommend this clinic to anyone
