Dr. Smith performed my LEEP and Colposcopy. All options were discussed with me and we decided that the LEEP and Colposcopy were best. He explained the procedure in detail prior to surgery and was very thorough in his evaluation. In pre-op he stopped by to see me and calm my nerves. He and his staff ensured that I was very comfortable before, during, and after surgery. He is very professional and kind. My recovery time was minimal. Five well deserved stars!

Found he lied on my medical records. Embellished my words from "occasional cramping" to severe cramps and some heavier periods to very heavy periods. I think he was justifying unnecessary hysterectomy where he leveraged my bladder. When I first met him he have me 100% of his attention. TERRIBLE surgical skills!

I saw Michael Smith on August 2, 2017. I was going to have him do my sterilization surgery. I actually had already discussed with my gynecologist what I wanted, and we'd come to a decision.

When speaking with him, I asked the risks. He only gave one. I was surprised at the lack of information. The risk he cited concerned my weight. Given my weight, he should have cited at least one other risk that I happen to know.

I later received my service estimate in the mail, which had additional items on it (to the tune of almost $10k, pre-insurance). When I called about this, I found out he'd put them in my chart. Flat-out lies!!! I will never go to him again, and DO NOT recommend him.

If it were not for the fact that I recognized a term on the estimate, and called, I've no doubt he would have done both of the things we hadn't even discussed -- one I hadn't even heard of until I was told what the abbreviation was for by the staff.

In my opinion Dr Smith is unprofessional and unqualified to run a Da Vinci robot.

Unfortunately, I had to have a D&C recently for a miscarriage, and he was the first available OB/GYN that my midwife could schedule me with. He seemed to do the procedure without complications, but I just really didn't like him. He has an air of false sympathy, and made some distinctly non-feminist remarks during my pre-op and post-op appointments. My husband asked him why he got into OB/GYN and he said "Because I'm good at it. In fact, I often joke with my female colleagues that all they have to do to get clients is be female, while I actually have to be good." I'm sure they find that to be a hilarious joke. He also repeatedly referred to his patients as "girls." Hello, I'm a grown woman, and I am pretty sure almost all of his patients are, too. I will not see him again.

Yes he is nice and friendly when you first meet him. Like he is happy you chose him so he can get paid. But when things get serious, he is not patient and not caring. He only seemed to care about his schedule and if your body is not cooperating, he tries to force things to speed up and make you feel worse. In my opinion, he is a typical man that only cares about his golfing schedule and if your labor is too long, he gets impatient and doesn't care about your opinions, feelings, or thoughts. Completely ruined my birthing experience.

I highly disliked my birth experience with dr.smith. I felt as if he didn't care about what I had to say or what I was feeling. I feel as though my labor lasted more than 30 hours because he stressed me out. He wouldn't listen to me saying that my contractions were getting stronger at a steady pace. I only saw him for no more than 5 min at a time about every 4 hours and he kept persisting that I be given the drug to speed up contractions. He didn't care about how I wanted things to go. It just seemed as if he just wanted to hurry up and get my daughters birth over with and didn't want to give me a chance. I also would not recommend Christie clinic at all. Every single person at Carle is a hundred times friendlier and caring. Would recommend seeing doctors at carle clinics in the champaign area.
