Interesting how similar many of the patient experiences are with Dr. Purcelli. I had an ear ache that he did cure with a cleaning and antibiotics, but he was very brusk and dismissive of my questions. And he did make fun of my wincing in pain, and I feel that I do have a decent pain threshold. I suppose if you have a minor issue and you are going because of insurance coverage you might get lucky, but I would take heed of some of the other comments and experiences. They seem genuine based on my experience.

Dr. Purcelli has treated me and my father and we are very greatful to have him as our doctor. I recommend Dr. Purcelli to people that are down to earth and are not high maintenance. I have always been very happy with his services and I feel very comfortable referring my friends to him. Not only is he a great doctor but he is A KIND MAN!!!!! One time when I was in the waiting room I saw a family that came out of the patient's room so happy because Dr. Purcelli had taken out a bean out of their 2 year old kid's nose (It had been stuck up there for days with out knowing). They were all so happy that the little girl could now breath and was no longer in pain. To top it all off, Dr. Purcelli refused to charge them and I also know the reason why. I feel so lucky to have him as a doctor and happy that there are people out there that trully believe in doing good for others with out bragging about it. I also know that other great doctors recomend him and that says a lot about him.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM! HE IS RUDE, DOESN'T LISTEN TO YOU, JUGGLES THREE PATIENT ROOMS SO HE LEAVES EVERY 3 MINUTES. PRESCRIBED ME THE WRONG MEDICINE AND I ENDED UP SEEING ANOTHER DOCTOR DAYS LATER BECAUSE PURCELLI'S MEDICINE DID NOTHING. PLEASE DO NOT SEE HIM!!! HE IS WORST DOCTOR I HAVE USED. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY, HE DOESNT CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH YOUR JUST ANOTHER QUICK DOLLAR.

purcelli is the WORST doctor I have EVER been to! aside from making me wait in an empty office, he was extremely rough during my procedure and when i said it was painful, his attitude was that i was too sensitive. he was very condescending and pissy. This guy is a curmudgeon of the highest degree, a cantankerous, shriveled-up old man, who should not be practicing, much less interacting with the human race. avoid him at all costs.

I read all these before I went it as well. I had no issues with Dr. Purcelli. I went in for an ear infection that was basically stuck pus/wax behind my eardrum. He drained my ear, tested my hearing, told me what to do for the next couple weeks and said to come back if I wasnt better by then. I think people are upset that he didnt sympathize wit them, but why should he? Hes there to fix your problem, not care how you got there. He was efficient, punctual, and fast. Id recommended him to a friend. Hes my kind of dr, no b.s.

Dr. Purcelli doesn't sugar coat things. He's not a hand holder and isn't there to make friends. He is there to treat patients and I found he did an excellent job of that (I had a very tricky tonsillectomy, my father saw him for serious chronic sinus issues). When it comes to my life and my heatlh, I'll take the knowledgeable pro who gets results over the touchy-feely stuff any day.

Dr. Purcelli has been a GREAT Doctor to me and to my wife. Had several SERIOUS operations and HE was the only Doc. we wanted. My Name is JIM DeLarme and you may reach me at (310) 283-1749. I was first in THIS site today simply because I had lost his number ( I am NOT at home just now ) and needed the GREAT gentleman to see me regarding a sonograme ( sleep study ) and need some help fast. If you have any "doubts" about this gentleman or his staff I would be happy to discuss MY own experiences (and they are MANY) with his work. Dr. Purcelli is indeed "old school" in many ways...and that is GOOD ( I feel ) There were a few times when I was "shuttled" to another "Doc" for various reasons beyond my control..and expensive and VERY painful proceedures and tests were done "fancy, new stuff"...proved to be untested and Dr. Monty Purcelli was quite "informed" and had avoided the new "gadget" s ridiculous costs ( to be passed on to ME !!! )

I found this website BEFORE I saw Dr. Purcelli, and I wondered whether the negative feedback I saw was because of the doctor or just because people who were frustrated were more likely to review than people who were satisfied. I resolved to write whatever my experience was. Not good! He came across as very condescending, like I was wasting his time. When I asked him to clarify some of the anatomy having to do with what he was talking about, he said I could look up the anatomy by myself at home---I could even look it up in a dictionary, for goodness sake! He said I had a minor problem, which I did, but he said it in a way that made it seem like I was foolish for bringing it in after feeling some pain for three weeks. He was not pressed for time---he was able to see me before my appointment time, and there were plenty of free appointments when I scheduled, but after about five minutes he stood up while he was talking, to show that he wanted the appointment to be over soon. So did I.

Had a tonsillectomy scheduled for Friday 4/19/2008 at 11:30am at St Johns in Santa Monica. 12:30 pm rolled around and I was told by the anesthesiologist that I had to have pre-op blood work done and a pregnancy test. Why was this not done before or in the 4 hours I had already been waiting. The nurses scrambled to get the bloodwork and preg test done. About an hour later Dr. Purcelli walked in and said that he has other patients and did not want to do the surgery because it took too long. Who's fault was that Dr.?? We were there on time and waited for SIX HOURS just to be denied. I had the IV and everything waiting and was sent home. DO NOT USE THIS DOCTOR. HE IS TERRIBLE. I am going to file a formal complaint and try to get compensation for our wasted day. SHAME ON YOU DOCTOR PURCELLI. SHAME ON YOU!!

Not a good doctor. Horrible bedside manner. I felt as he was rushing to get me out. He prescribed me over-the-counter merdication as he was walking out of the exam room not allowing me to ask any questions, which I had many. When I did ask him questions, he remained standing near the door as if in a hurry. He told me to return in a month if my systoms persist. I will be giving it two weeks, if that, and will be seeing another doctor. I was completely unsatisfied by this doctor who is probably just counting the days until he retires. Don't waste your time with him.
