Dr. Maria Rago AND her associates are by far, without a doubt, the most helpful, caring, compassionate, and non-judgmental individuals I have ever had the privilege of knowing and working with. Dr. Rago is the most compassionate, loving, and kind-hearted woman I have ever known. She, along with her team, saved my life and helped me overcome my eating disorder. I can say, without a doubt, had I not worked with Maria I would not be alive today. I highly recommend her to anyone struggling with an eating disorder. PS- she does not have boundary issues, and more importantly, she has NOT been investigated/close to losing her license. She has been my therapist for 2 years. She is one of the best out there.

Very unprofessional, boundary issues, ethic issues. I wouldn't recommend her or any of her team. Avoid Maria Rago at all cost. She has been investigated and has come close to losing her license due to boundary violations. Stay away.

She is a terrible therapist. Very nice as a person, but should really stick to research and advocacy. She would be much more effective trying to educate the world about her view of eating disorders, rather than over committing herself to multiple things.

believes eating disorders are purely a result of the media and diet industry. believes vegetarianism an eating disorder. very nice, but very close minded to ideologies that are not within her conceptual frame of eating disorders.

She's nice, she's energetic and incredibly optimistic, and she wants the best for her patients. I know a lot of people are really helped by her and that she has a reputation as an eating disorder expert. But if you do not fit the frame that she views eating disorders through, she is kind of terrifying. Optimism and hope do not help me. I believe I chose to have an eating disorder, so telling me that I didn't does not help me. Talking incessantly about one's dream for an eating disorder free future may be motivating in the short term and useful for goal-setting, but eventually we need something more concrete than daydreams. What she had to offer was not helpful to me, which meant I was out of luck, because she was unable to recognize me as a square hole, and kept pounding her round peg into me.

She is an awesome therapist! My daughter worked with her at Linden Oaks, and she was the first person she had praise for (not that other staff wasn't helpful, it just took Dr. Rago to get through to her, and make her want to recover.)

Maria is the best therapist ever! I did not even want recovery when I went to her, but I came out looking for so much out of life. She gives you a feeling that she could be your 2nd mom and cares so much for you. She is always a phone call away too if you are scared. She even checks up on you when she knows you have something challenging coming up. Before her I was sent to 8 other therapists and I talked to her more in my first session than any other therapists that I had. I was coming right out of Linden Oaks Hospital where she conducts a group, and I knew I needed her help if I wanted to see my life continue.
