I had my daughter with Margaret Thompson it was such a horrible experience till this day I still remember everything. I was glad when I saw that she retired. When I was having my daughter she was in such a rush that she stuck both hands inside of me(natural birth) and begun to yank my child out. After that horrible experience she delivered the placenta and left out the room in a rush, the nurses was calling and paging her telling her that I was bleeding too heavy instead of her coming back to check on her patient she sent another doctor to my room even thought she came back into my room to get her cell phone. Thank God she is retired, but I did LOVE her midwife Lisa

Dr. Thompson is terrific and extremely knowledgeable. Her wealth of experience reassured me during my first pregnancy when I had pre-eclampsia. Her bedside manner and confidence are great attributes. I was disappointed she retired and wouldn't be delivering my second baby. My c-section recovery was seamless thanks to her excellent surgical skills - top notch!

I had a very bad experience with her office one that almost cost me my life. I saw her while pregnant with my first son actually I NEVER saw her only her NP. My last three months of pregnancy my BP was high and they waited until a week before my due date to finally induce. After I got out of the hospital after having my son I returned to the emergency room 3 days later and was told that I had Congestive Heart Failure due to my pregnancy (preaclampsia) which they could have caught if they had been paying attention. I was in ICU for almost 3weeks!!!! When I did see Dr. Thompson during office visits (which was only two times) she had no clue what was going on with me or even who I was!!! I heard that she is retired and am glad that this will NEVER happen to anyone under her care ever again I have a beautiful healthy 3yr old now and am happy to be able to be here to watch him grow!!!!

Dr Thompson and her staff (Susan Thompson and her partnership w Dr Byron Darby) have seen us through 4 pregnancies. in 4 years resulting in two healthy children. We had a C sect with our first because the cord was wrapped and a VBAC with our second. She was so supportive and encouraging. Other doctors would have schedule a 2nd C sect without a thought. Her experience and dedication to what's best for women's health is untouhed in Austin. We followed her from the practice and birthing center she started on Bee Caves - Women's Ren Center to NAMC and then to her newest practice OBGYN North at St Davids/NAMC. I was beyond saddened that she had to retire two years ago. We are getting ready to expand our family again and I am at a loss for who to see.

My experience with her was horrible. Wait for every visit was extremely long, She then rush through visits and left you there without answer your questions. I switched Dr soon after.

When I had my daughter i really felt comfortable with all the staff. Dr. Thompson was very professional. Now with my second baby I am going back to her practice because I was satisfied with their care.

I have always been very pleased with Susan Thompson, she has been caring, knowledgeable and supportive in my experience. That said, I have never been to any doctor's office with as rude and poor an administrative staff. I am so disappointed every time I come in with the front desk people.

I'm very shocked to see the reviews on here. I respect Margaret, Susan, and Lisa very much. When I got pregnant with twins after having a previous c-section I went to Dr thompson. She delivered my twins vbac and I gave birth to very big and healthy twins without a doctor pushing me to have a c-section. It's sad that she is retired and now practices law/ politics, but she was and is an amazing doctor.

I'm astonished at the negative comments I see here. I'm willing to bet they stem from unrealistic expectations on the part of the patient. Exceptional doctors get trapped in ERs and delivery rooms by unusual cases. Would you want your dr. to bail out on you in the middle of a delivery because there were clinic patients waiting? I've been going to Susan Thompson for my annual exam for ten years. She is kind, compassionate, thorough and fast--exactly what I need. Any time I call on the phone for issues such as UTIs, response is ASAP. The front office has never been anything but competent. I pass out Susan's cards to anyone I meet who is new to Austin. There is a right match for everyone, but every person I've ever referred to her has stayed with her. That seems to say it all.

The front office is a mess. A week ago I had a 1 hour and 50 min. wait and this week had a 35 min. wait. I have a question re: my care and can not get a return call. It is always a nightmare to call in there and when you do reach someone they can't seem to convey the info. to the correct party.Fact is that Dr. Thompson is apparantly retired, but you can't tell that from any of these sites...not even their own.Susan Thompson a NA Or PA or something is very pleasant and knowledgeble, but the rest of the staff is so lame...that it hinders her ability to do her job in a timely responsive manner.
