It's obvious that Dr. Zweig and/or a few fans are trying to paint a better picture of him. Yes, he absolutely would embarrass patients and he can be shockingly arrogant, judgmental, and condescending toward patients and colleagues. He is far from the caring great "healer" that one or two people would have you believe. He may get along with a few patients provided that they agree with everything and anything he has to say. Why would a physician his age have to advertise, claiming to be an expert on virtually everything? I am also a former patient and will never forget his hideous attitudes, judgments, and ridiculous statements (yes, without any scientific basis).

I found Dr. Zweig and his staff to be attentive to my needs and concerns. Dr. Zweig takes adequate time to really listen and then responds with well thought out diagnosis based on supporting data. Dr. Zweig does not hesitate to recommend a specialist if he deems a condition to warrant it. In this day and age it is truly refreshing to find a physician that cares about me and my health.

As a long time patient of Dr. Zweig’s, I can recommend him highly and without hesitation. Consistently during my time with Dr. Zweig, I have found him to be: thorough; meticulous; unassuming; insightful; engaging; and, of course knowledgeable. He stays very current on new studies and information, as well as procedures across the spectrum, showing a rare ability to adapt to new data. When he has referred me to specialists, they have been uniformly excellent. He takes the health and welfare of his patients very personally and works very hard to insure our wellbeing. How has this worked? Dr. Zweig clearly saved my wife’s life once, and both she and I have benefitted immensely in several critical situations where his care has resulted in little impact to quality of life, where even a small oversight would have changed the course of that impact. If you are looking for an exceptionally high performing Internist to partner in your health and wellbeing, you will not find anyone better.

Years ago, determined to locate the best possible internist, an old-fashioned doctor of loyalty, patience, caring, and sincere involvement, I began canvassing my tennis-playing friends, physicians, dentists, Silicon Valley executives, business entrepreneurs, etc., for a name. Unequivocally, the response was the same: "If you want to live past a hundred, see Gary Zweig." Among those of us who are his patients, we agree that Zweig's qualities, first, as a man, and, second, as a doctor, are too well known on the Peninsula to warrant description. Nonetheless, what stands out is his gentleness, tactfulness, and, with his smile, a general good nature. As for his devotion to medicine, note Dr. Zweig is never economical with his words. He means to heal and preserve the dignity of his patient. In short, this is an internist who is nonpareil in precision diagnoses and accurate intervention. I'm one of those who plans to live well into the hundreds, and I'm thankful I found him. I'm indebted.

Dr. Zweig is very thorough and helpful in figuring out what is ailing me. I have had some interesting diagnoses to figure out but he always stayed the mile and gotten me through whatever it is. He is very good about finding specialists and follows up with those referrals. I have been a patient for over twelve years and don't plan to change doctors until he retires (which I hope is far into the future).

Dr Zweig has been my doctor for 10 years. He is the best doctor I have ever had, smart, good guy. Knows what things are important, including detecting a cancer in me once which others missed, and can also quickly exclude things that are irrelevant. He also is incredibly responsive and available and will always help me get into a specialist quickly. Greg

Gary Zweig is an outstanding doctor. I have been a patient for over 15 years, and he has provided amazing care to my family and me. He is terrific both in general/routine care as well as working with the top specialists for specific issues. His attention to detail, expertise in healthcare, sense of urgency and compassion for his patients are amazing. Our family feels very grateful to have him as our doctor.

Wow! I am not sure the comments from the rating of 12/30/07 and 07/27/09 are talking about the same Dr. Zweig that I have been seeing for the last 6 years. I have found him to be kind, caring, knowledgeable, and passionate about helping patients in any way he can. Honesty is one of his many qualities, and I have never known Dr. Zweig to make any statements that were false; nor has he ever argued with me, criticize or make assumptions. If he feels a specialist is needed after checking you out, he is happy to find the best specialist available and arrange for a timely appointment. He actually arranged an appointment with a cardiologist for me by calling the doctor while I was in the room and discussed my case with him, and had an appointment before I left the office. He would NEVER embarrass or share any information about a patient. Having a physician that will call you back, text you, or email you with any urgent problem shows the commitment he has to his practice. He is the best.
