Dr. Huw was substituted for my scheduled Doctor for a colonoscopy at the hospital. Thank goodness, as he diagnosed and prescribed help that saved my life. Good refreshing sense of humour too, easy to talk to.

My son slowly developed digestive problems when he was around 15. When we finally got in to see Dr. Jenkins he did nothing but joke about the situation. He asked minimal questions that were not very in depth and from the verbal exam diagnosed him with stomach migraines. After an upper GI endoscopy, and determining there was minor inflammation in the duodenum, but no ulcers, basically shrugged his shoulders and marked it down as a case of IBS. He offered no advise or course of action we could take to continue trying to figure out what is wrong.
Time to see someone else, I guess.

I had a completely terrible experience working with this doctor. I have worked with over 15 different specialists for the various medical conditions that I have over the years and not once have I ever dealt with one as rude as this one. The staff was completely unhelpful every single time we called, my husband and I, the clinic for any information and always said they had to call us back after talking to the doctor. We never once received a phone call back to the several inquiries we had made to them. During any appointment, this doctor blew off my concerns like I had no idea what I was talking about and no symptom was interesting enough to get his attention. I first had an upper GI, as that was his first suggestion. When I came back to get the results, he told me they were clear and just stared at me like I was supposed to tell him what to do next. He then said he would book an endoscopy, and when I asked him if there would be a chance it would get cancelled on me, which would happen to me in the past, he looked at me like I was crazy and asked me why I was so negative. After having an endoscopy, I also was clear and they still didn't know what was wrong. I was booked for another follow up after the test, but I ended up getting the results from my family doctor in my hometown. I had discussed previously with Dr Jenkins that we may have had to have an esophageal motility study done in Edmonton. I called his office several times asking if I could get them to book the next set of testing without me having to come in for a follow up, as I lived out of town and I had no way to get in for the appointment. I called them with sufficient notice, and they refuse to get back to me. Even when my husband called them in tears of frustration, the front staff kept saying they had to talk to the doctor and that they would get back to us. its been a few months now and we still haven't heard anything. they refused to book my testing in Edmonton because I wouldn't come in for a follow up! I really shows that this doctor only cares about making money and does not care about your well being. He makes completely inappropriate jokes and has no sympathy to your feelings. He should really go back to being a hospital administrator because he sucks at being a specialist doctor.

I was diagnosed with lymphocytic colitis - he put me on entocort for a month with no change. Went back to him and he basically said nothing else he could give me if this drug didn't work and sent me on my merry little way. I even said i can't eat anything and have been losing more weight! Asked why my stool was green and he advised I must be eating frogs and gave no other explanation. Wow!! I mentioned diet but he didn't like that. I have friends with colitis and their GI's right from the start told them to eat well cooked mashed food and stay away from certain items. Not one mention to me and oh yeah, said to just stop entocort (no mention of slowly coming off it). In a time of stress and fear, he made me cry and feel like it was all in my head. That was feb 2013 and I went from 150 lbs to 123 lbs and now I am 110 lbs. Trying to figure this out on my own while I wait for another dr to show some compassion and who is intelligent enough to help me.

I was in red deer hospital again for a CROHN'S flair up dr Jenkins was away on holidays so I had a replacement dr soo. He was a great a great dr as I have had this for almost 15 yrs the drugs they use to sedate you do not work anymore. I told him this and that I would be awake for the procedure. I watched on the monitor and he took his time showing me different things and talking me through it. Colonoscopys aren't fun I've had many probely close to 60. After he did locate the sorce of my pain again and told me it was a flair up. I was hysterical I've been in remission almost 4 yrs. he did everything he could do to help sooth me. Upon discharge he wrote a perscription out I took it to my pharmacist and it had been filled in wrong! A few days later when I noticed this the nurses at the endo unit tracked down dr Jenkins and he fixes the mess up with out every meeting me. Considering I spent 2 weeks in hospital I was grateful to not have to go back. That meant a lot and I thank him for it!

He has been very understanding and has not given up on helping me find out what makes me sick. He gets things done (if you need a test, he will order it right away). He tries his best to understand your situation and do everything he can to solve the problem. I've been getting sick for over 5 years now with a unknown condition/cause. He was very kind to get me booked in for a test at the most recent opening. He took empathy and consideration that I've been waiting years for a doctor to help me figure out what is happening and why. He is convenient to contact and very friendly. He may use words that you would not expect from a doctor and it may catch you off guard; however, he is a really great doctor! Very smart, bright, funny, understanding and very knowledgeable. If you have questions he is always happy to answer them. I would recommend him to anyone. Most of his staff are very friendly and welcoming. I only had an issue with a young receptionist who I found rude and very unhelpful.

Dr. Huw is from "Across the Pond" (United Kingdom) and has a dark, asorbic wit, which I thoroughly enjoyed, although I can understand why people with a poor sense of humor would not be amused. He put me at ease immediately and explained in detail what he would be doing (liver biopsys). He came to my room several times just to say hello and to see how I was doing. Dr. Huw saw me down on the main floor of the hospital and came over to speak to me. I think he is GREAT and is VERY good at his job.

Very good doctor! Took my 80 yr old mother there and he was very open, honest, knowledgeable, accommodating, on time, relaxed and helpful. He made my mother and I feel at ease and answered every question I had regarding my mother's health....and I was fairly pushy with my questions after having to deal with other disappointing doctors. My mother no longer has any problems in "that department" as Dr. Huw correctly diagnosed and treated her problem, when for 5 yrs, no other doctor was helpful. I highly recommend him. Thank you Dr. Huw!

I did not like Dr.Jenkins. He made me feel very uneasy about the procedure. Of course the procedure it self is unpleasant enough without his bed side manner. I left his office in tears, feeling very scared, and I have hade the scope before. His description was horrible. I thought he was very rude and more concerned about his computer not coming on then what I hade to tell him!! I think I was just another number for him, could care less about me. I did not go through with the procedure with this DR. I was not comfortable enough. If you are looking for someone who cares, do not go to him.
