Wow, same stories as mine. I was given injections into the SI joints, and was to get the injections in the facets. Yet it was all just in my head. I actually refused the oxy pain meds they wanted to prescribe, I could have got that kind of treatment from my orthapedic doctors. Dr. Ward, if you want to call him a doctor, is evil and the worst possible. He also wrote a letter about me, I guess he was trying to get my disability insurance to cancel my benefits. Didn't work! I too thought of suing him for defamation. Never examined me, ever. Spent a total of five minutes with me. He doesn't know me at all and writing a letter about me? He is evil!

I went to see this doctor because I am trying to find an alternate method of pain relief so I don't have to take as many, if any at all, narcotic pain relievers. First he came into the room with an already decided opinion about me. I had went to him because I had surgery on my neck and on my back in 12/2013 at the Laser Spine Institute in Tampa, FL and the doctor there wanted me to have a couple of diagnostic tests called nerve root blockers so that he could decide on any further treatment. First of all Dr. Ward says there is no justification for doing the tests. He goes on to say that the LSI does not have a very good reputation. That they push patients through like cattle at a stock yard. Then he excuses himself from the room to go get his nurse so he can do the exam. He comes back to do the exam and literally has his hands on my back for maybe 5 minutes. He then leaves the room again to go "wash his hands". When he comes back in I start recording the conversation on my phone not knowing I was doing anything wrong, still not sure I was doing anything wrong. He started to talk to me then realized I was recording the conversation. He then told me I needed to leave the office. I tried to explain why I was recording the conversation, my husband is usually with me at all my medical related appointments but his mother had a stroke the night before and he was at he hospital with her and his family. He would not let me explain. Also, as soon as I saw he was upset about me recording I turned off the recording app on my phone and apologized to him. It didn't matter. At thins point he was not going to listen to anything I had to say. He repeatedly told me to get out of the office. I did leave but unfortunately I said a few choice words on my way out because I was so frustrated, hurt, and angry.
Then when I received a copy of the note that he sent to my other healthcare providers I was beyond furious. He basically stated that I was "faking my pain" in order to get narcotics or to have surgery performed that I did not need (who in the world would want to go through surgery if they didn't need it). He implied I was a narcotics seeker. Then went on to call me a "safety and legal risk". I felt he over reacted regarding the recording of our conversation and now I truly believe he is paranoid about being sued probably because he has been sued in the past. I swear I had no intention what so ever about recording him for legal purposes but now that he states that I am a "legal risk" and am seriously considering suing him for defamation of character!
P.S. While I was in the exam room waiting on him I could hear him across the hall with a male patient cutting up and laughing. Totally the opposite of the way he acted with me. I agree with the other person who stated she felt he had something against women or something to that effect.

I was referred to Dr Ward by my primary doctor for chronic lower back pain. Other than a mild case of scoliosis no doctor can find a diagnosis for my constant pain. I was sent to him in hopes he'd be able to help me. On my first visit I met with his associate Shannon. (Not sure of her last name)
She informed me that I'd be receiving the facet joint injections. She was nice & pleasant to me & explained the procedure well. I was scheduled for the injections a month later. On my procedure day I was scheduled to be there at 8 am. I sat in the waiting room until almost 9. I was told by the receptionist that he was running late. I can understand that, Dr's get help up sometimes. When I was finally called back at 9:15 I went to a holding room where the nurse explained the procedure once again & told me what would be happening. She then again told me that he still wasn't ready yet that he hasn't even arrived to the building yet! My appt was at 8, its now 9:30. I waited another 10 mins & he finally showed up. He rushed into the holding room & introduced himself & marked my back where the injections in would be going. I was then wheeled back to the procedure room. The nurses helped me onto the table & got me situated. He came in & walked over to me & jerked the waist band of pants down without even saying a word. The nurse had already done this but he apparently wasn't pleased with the way she had done it. He then "numbed" the area. Immediately after doing that he began the injections. It was the most horrific, indescribable pain I had ever felt. I received 6 injections total. I wasn't numb at all from the numbing shot. He had no bedside manner at all. He was in & out in less than 10 minutes. I was wheeled to recovery for a few minutes. The nurses told me to take it easy for the day & I could return to work the following day. By the time I got home I was in so much pain I could barely walk. I called the office to ask if the pain was supposed to be this intense. They said it varied from person to person. They wouldn't prescribe me any kind of pain meds. I missed a total of 5 days from work. When I went in for my followup a week later I saw Dr. Ward. He asked about how the shots helped. I informed him that they didn't help me that I was in more pain now than I was before I came to him. He then told me that there wasn't anything more he could do for me that I needed to learn to live with the pain & that in a few years when I was to the point of it being unbearable that he would so some type of surgery to see what he could do. I told him that I was to the point of it being unbearable that that's why I was there to begin with. He told me that I didn't need any pain meds & that I had psychological issues. He then got up & left me sitting in the room. He was the rudest man that I've ever met in my entire life. He has absolutely no business practicing medicine. From the 2 appointments that I had with him I saw him maybe 15 mins total. He had no right to tell me I had issues. He didn't even take the time to listen to what I was trying to tell him. He had no interest in helping me. Like everyone else has said I believe he is just money hungry bastard. Its gonna take me 4 years just to pay off the 6 injections he gave me that didn't even begin to help me. I'm sorry he done other people wrong too, but I'm also happy to see I wasn't the only one!

Will never go back to this doctor again he is awful!! He makes you feel like you have no problem tells you it is all in your head that pain is nothing, but he is a "pain doctor" all he wants is the money from his injections he does not care about the patient or helping them. He treats you like you are a drug addict.. I do not even want pain meds. They make me sick I want this pain to go away. He told me nothing was wrong with me, but he wanted to to extensive treatment on me and send me to extensive therapy how is that nothing is wrong with me?? This office needs someone else or it will loose its practice.

This ws my last visit to this Doctor.I feel I was treated like a drug addict and not a patient. Advised PA that I take 3000mg of BC powders(asprin)daily and was concerned about taking so many,She wrote a script for ibruprophen even though I stressed they did not work.(never filled it) I wait hrs for the Dr. at out patient visits (last time 4 hrs)and then says "I APOLIGIZES TO NO ONE". I was 15 minutes late once, and refused to see me? Today's insult was the final insult was the final straw. Iwaited 2 hrs, Dr. decides to do an epidurial and secheduled the faucet blocker for 3 wks later(2 surgery bills = 2x $$$). When I asked about the pain I would still have till the 2nd pocedure, he got upset, offered muscle relaxers. Then Irate when I told him they don't work but what has worked in the past. He said I wasn't getting any narcotics that I asked for a perscription the last time (9 months ago/10-5mg hydocodine)And I should tk what ever I have at home, then left recovery room.
