Dr. Tyson was my primary care doc for several years. I switched for insurance reasons. When I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, she encouraged me to lose weight instead of putting me on a lot of drugs immediately. I lost weight and my glucose got much better. I did feel a bit rushed at times and I never felt a "connection" with her.

I have seen Dr. Tyson for about 10 years now. She has been professional and courteous. My only issue is that she is rather eager to prescribe. If you go to her and ask for a particular prescription, you are likely to get it. While this is convenient if you know what you are doing, it could be risky if you just THINK you know what you are doing. Also, she does not seem up on more wholistic medical practices.

Dr. Tyson has been my primary care doctor for about 8 years. She has gotten me through some difficult illnesses with her skill, compassion and knowledge.

Dr. Tyson scoffed at the ENCORE study I'm participating in at Duke to lower BP through diet and exercise. She refused my request to sit in a chair with feet on the floor when BP was taken and insisted I sit on the exam table with feet dangling in the air. She was extremely eager to write a prescription for Beta Blocker although I had documentation from Duke that BP was normal. She made snide and incorrect comments about my family medical history and was generally rude and offensive. She would not discuss my health concerns but tried to intimidate.
