The pattern in these reviews is uncanny because it's true. Many years of good therapy with a 180 flip on perspective and assessment in an angry, vindictive way. Went from telling me he loved me to completely flipping the script, leaving me blindsided and assuming he just didn't like me anymore or for quite some time and was being sneaky about it. The sneakiness and manipulation and false fronts are true. If you let the lies and stretches fly, you're good but if you speak up and challenge or critique, you're targeted and destroyed with extreme prejudice. Guy has serious issues of his own and needs to hang it up and write a book or something. You can't deny patterns like that.

Good until the end. He was the perfect therapist for me and explained things to me that gave me true perspective that I didn't have at the time. He helped me like that. But at the very end (because I stopped going after this) he did a 180 on his position, it shocked me because it was the foundation of our conversations that was flipped, I realized he was just trying to screw with me and give me the F-U. He may have disliked me for a while or that may just be his personality. A lot of people prefer the covert passive aggressive way to deliver low-blows. Sometimes therapists are people who need help themselves?

He was very sneaky in the sense that he was playing games with me as a patient, he spent 2 years telling me one thing then at the right time flipped the script and claimed the opposite, I suspect just for fun. I wrote him a check, left his office and never returned. Don't be surprised if this happens to you.

First class conman. changed his entire assessment after 2.5 years, caught him in a few lies, and wouldn’t provide any real diagnosis but gave many half diagnosis

I went to Mike M years ago for quite a while. I still remember this as a great experience with a great person. He was so kind and so caring and he clicked right in to what I needed and what would help me.

Michael Maniacci is the best! I credit the work we did together with where I am today...we had some tough sessions, but it was ultimately what needed to be surfaced. I cannot day enough good things about Michael Maniacci; that being said, he’s not for you if you’re not ready to face what you need to do to change “you”.

The thing about this amazing counselor is that all these reviews are accurate. The positive reviews are spot on. But I understand where the negative reviewers are coming from; however, effective therapy is tough and makes you squirm because you must face all sides of an issue including the tough sides. He doesn't waste your time dancing around feelings and he gets you to the core of the problem. People who want a confidante to vent feelings wouldn't like him. But if you are willing to look in the mirror, be honest about what's bugging you or scaring you or whatever, and get to the bottom of stuff, then he's your guy.
I do get the feeling that guys tend to connect w him more than girls. But that could be cuz of his demeanor. For example, the "his way or the highway" review comment below is understandable. But so what if his way is correct or at least something worth considering? - which I found to be the case most of the time!
Ps when we saw him he was his staff, and he was prompt and efficient.

Unfortunately I have to side with the reviews of rude if not downright abusive on Dr. Maniaci. Although my experience was several years ago, and because I was so young and dealing with so much, perhaps my experience with him was somehow misinterpreted as rudeness or skewed in some way. Nevertheless I have to say in my experience with therapists it was not good. I felt that his treatment if me was very unprofessional if not sexually biased against women. But to this day my experience with him still reflects negatively.

Dr. Michael has been awesome for our high-achieving 17-year-old son with anxiety. While others are good, kind listeners who treat the symptoms, Dr. Michael gets right to the problem and treats it effectively. Our son agrees that he is the best.
