Dr. El-Asyouty is the perfect psychiatrist for me. He is understanding, listens, and asks the right questions. Dr. El-Asyouty has helped adjust my medications in such a way it has made my life better than I thought possible. I am also grateful he is on my health plan, as it is difficult to find psychiatrists in Santa Barbara. I am very appreciative he accepted me as a patient.

Everyone please avoid this doctor. I have been a long time patient and new I should had moved on years ago, but he had me addicted to a medication that only a few doctors could perscribe. I was not told the side effects of this medication and after years of taking it, I have been left to figure out how to get off of it on my own. He always interupts, never treats you with anything other than rudeness and medication. I have had to pay a lot of money to listen to him on his cell phone during my appointments. Somethimes I would be in mid sentance and he would answer his phone. He should have is license revoked. He gets people addicted to medication for his own profitable gain. He is terrible. Please do not let his fake knowledge win you over. FYI this is the first time I have ever written a negative reveiw about someone. But people need to be warned!!!!

Yes, he has ADD which is why I see him as I share the problem. And while he does wander the office and "check mail" as he talks to you, he is multitasking and seems to actually be listening. For right or wrong he will give you an opinion and doesn't stick with the standard "how does that make you feel?" He is totally different than others which I like but some might hate. Make sure you get the first appointment of the day or he will be late as he has a hard time cutting patients short when they need his time. It is important to be assertive with him. I've been seeing him for numerous years and have my ADD and depression under control.

Always late, always distracted, asks the same questions each visit as if it is the first appointment after 2 years. We expressed wanting to wean off meds we questioned were not necessary he simply switched medicines. Looking desperately for another dr who will accept our insurance.

The pros & cons from reviewers here are mostly accurate. He suffers from severe A.D.D & is always late He is overly confident in his rapid diagnoses and is a notorious over-medicator. He is insensitive to concerns of side effects, interactions, etc. On the other hand, he is the most sincerely caring psychiatrist I have ever met, believes in solutions beyond medication and takes extra time with his patients. He is from another culture: if you are capable of being firm & assertive, he will respond well to your concerns and criticism. Sherif is the first person to overcome my severe anti-pharm bias, which just about saved my life.

He actually checked his email and internet during our appointment, was often half focused, and the appointment which was only 15 minutes, and still cost $125 before insurance!

I have been seeing him for about a year, and although his wait times are longer than usual, it is what I know to expect from being his patient. He is always friendly and makes me laugh. He spends as much time with me as I need and is very knowledgable. His office manager is very helpful and I plan to continue to see him for as long as I can. He does answer his phone during sessions, but is always apologetic about it, and it just shows how much he cares about his patients to drop what he is doing when they need him. No Dr is perfect and I think some patients forget that.

Dr. El-Asyouty's license should be revoked. He is arrogant, distracted and forever late. I suffered from overmedication throughout my two years of treatment. He was untimely with any request for medication renewals, ignored side effects, and refused appointments unless I paid in cash. In a time of crisis, one should avoid this physician.
