I can't think of enough superlatives to describe our experience with Dr Hickman and his staff. I was 41 and had tried on our own for 6 months. I live near the med center had one visit with another clinic in the Women's Hosp campus who told me I had a 5% chance of IVF success. I drove 40 miles round trip to Dr Hickman who gave me a 25% chance. We only retrieved 4 eggs that were succesfully inseminated and then "sent in" but I got twins! The staff was always supportive and cheerful. Dr Hickman came in on his scheduled day off to do my first ultrasound. I never felt rushed when I asked questions. **Quite frankly, I wrote my review because I couldn't understand where some of the negative comments could have come from. I would recommend Dr Hickman over and over again. I'd rate him as one of my top 2 doctors - of any specialty and I do a lot of investigating to go to the best.

I went to multiple other doctors to try 'everything else' before deciding to proceed with IVF. Dr. Hickman was recommended by my RE, and since I trused my RE highly I went with his recommendation. And because of that, I am 26 weeks pregnant with my son. Dr. Hickman is truly remarkable, very personable and has great bedside manner. The nurses are wonderful and always get back to you in a timely fashion. They never made me feel like i was an inconvenience and were always kind and understanding. After conceiving twins on my first round I lost one of them, and the staff was so kind. I also had an SCH and even though i had 'graduated', the on-call nurse walked me through it and Dr. Hickman came out of surgery the next day to see me. There is not a day that goes by that I don't silently thank Houston IVF for giving me my son (still in utero). I trust them with my life and with his life....and the life of our 6 'snowbabies'.

Very disappointed at this clinic. Had 3 rounds of ivf...all of which failed. Was told that we would never have children and Was discouraged from any other attempts other than donor egg. Amazingly, we got pregnant on our own without any help, and when we went in for the pregnancy test, dr. Hickman was very pessimistic. He said our child was not viable and/or would not make it...every week up to our discharge at 10 weeks. Fast forward 7 months and we gave birth to a beautiful healthy child. He was so pessimistic it nearly broke my heart and spirit. Luckily, our child was stronger than he hoped. I felt like he was disappointed that we got pregnant on our own as it went against everything he told us! Though i know several people who have gotten pregnant from them, we did Not have a positive experience at all.

Dr. Hickman's clinic is a top performing establishment that really met all the wonderful standards I had heard. I tried another doctor first & paid the same amount for an initial visit as I did at Dr. Hickman's but got WAY MORE info and personal treatment at Hickman's. Other guy only saw me for 5 minutes, asked only vague questions, then sent the nurse to schedule my next apt. He gave me no info, no diagnosis, not friendly, and I left feeling lost. With Dr. Hickman it was a polar opposite experience. He met with me and my husband for a good 30 minutes, diagnosed me, performed an ultrasound to confirm, & went over all the questions and details of my diagnosis and treatment plan - all in 1 visit & the same price as the other guy! A definitive sign of quality and expertise. There is a definite feeling of warmth when at first you arrive and see 3 floor-to-ceiling sized frames full photos of all the successful children under Dr. Hickman's and his partner's care. DON'T GO ANYWHERE ELSE!

We spent years and wasted money on other doctors that tested and did procedures that lead us no where! After trying for over 9 years we found Dr. McKenzie and Dr. Hickman. We moved forward in the direction we wanted to with their advice along the way. The nursing staff is informative and to this day they still follow up to see how we are doing. Yes the price is more expensive comapred to what is out there but you can not put a price on the precious miracle baby that we have now!

Houston IVF is fantastic. They have always taken the time to answer my numerous questions and make me feel as though we are part of a team. Dr. Hickman had first recommended IUI, but when he reviewed my husband's medical records identified that he had a genetic issue related to Marfans Syndrome from which more than half of his family suffered (leading to premature death and numerous health issues). Dr. Hickman was the first RE that had bothered to look at our entire medical picture and not just fertility. He made us aware that we could use Pre Genetic Implantation (PGD) diagnosis to potentially prevent our children from being affected. Also, I had other REs tell me that because I was morbidly obese that IVF was a waste of time and that I would be better off getting gastic bipass. Obviously, I disagreed and am more than happy with the Houston IVF results!!

Dr. Hickman was awful. He does not care about his patients. I felt pressure to do donor egg and I'm a healthy, fertile 29 year old. We did IVF for male factor. They told me I had Hep C, they were wrong! Horrible clinic!

Dr. Hickman has a terrible bedside manner. He did a painful procedure on me and used equipment that didn't work and had to do it again. He refused us treatment because he did not want to skew his numbers. I would not recommend him and I certainly will never see him again. He was horrible.
