Don't bother with Dr. Loomis if you have a complex back problem like I did. Dr. Loomis had NO bedside manner, (didn't warn me before he used needles to assess me), lacked knowledge of my previous surgery to remove a tumor, (and refused to speak with my former neurosurgeon who would have been happy to have passed on my medical history to him), and worst of all did not listen to me as the patient but rather reviewed my most recent MRI only, told me my problem was scar tissue, (it was not), and that I'd never walk again. I went out to my car and broke down I was so upset. Thankfully I didn't believe him and got a second opinion from an amazing neurosurgeon at Duke who did a 4 level spinal fusion on me and I have regained my life back. Don't bother with Dr. Loomis and if you do just beware that this man is not well versed in the most recent spine health technology/information and I would seek a second, third or fourth opinion elsewhere if in doubt.

I have never encountered a provider worse than this one. He was extremely rude, very condescending and completely unprofessional. He was mad that the doctor that referred me had done so. he also berated that doctor to me, and threatened his career in front of me & my wife. I am merely the patient here, and should not be treated in such an unprofessional manner. I was glad to leave that appointment. I would NEVER recommend this provider to anyone else. I am told that he will likely retire soon. I certainly hope so.

Couldn't be happier with Dr. Loomis. He performed surgery on my neck when it was necessary. I always found his office to be punctual and professional and Dr. Loomis to be knowledgeable, accurate and most surprising of all - humble. I would recommend him to anyone contemplating or needing serious back or neck surgery.

Dr. Loomis performed a complicated, invasive surgery on my father's cervical disc(s). This surgery was elective but recommended by Loomis. Prior to surgery, my father could drive his car, sit in his recliner and watch a baseball game, play with his cat, talk intelligently, take care of his personal (bodily) needs, walk 25 feet, and comb his own hair. Four months later my father has been in 2 hospitals, including ICU and Emergency admission, two different rehab facilities. I could go on but it's too exhausting. Loomis fails to return phone calls and our infrequent visits to him for follow-up require that my father has to be transported to Loomis's impersonal office by van in a wheelchair in freezing weather for a 15-20 minute "visit". Loomis does not answer direct questions and seems insulted by them. My father's quality of life is terrible and getting worse. Any surgery is risky on a 76 year old man. Neurosurgery should be avoided at all cost. Especially performed by Loomis.

25 years ago, my son was born at 25 weeks gestational age. He had hydrocephalus. Dr. Loomis installed the shunt that is still working beautifully today. He helped to save my precious son's life. I would recommend him highly to anyone in need of neurosurgery. He is highly talented and extremely knowledgeable. He is also very good at reasurring worried and scared parents! We love him...

I had 2 surgeries done by him. The first was a disc dissection and the second was a fusion. Both times I was able to get to the surgery done as soon as I was ready to. He was very concerned with my pain level and prescribed meds easily to helped me with the pain.

Sent me for a test that was unrelated to problem. Even the Neurologist was uncomfortable giving me the test when it was clearly uncalled for.

Dr. Loomis performed surgery on our son 12 years ago for metopic stenosis. He was so caring and encouraged us to get as many opinions as we needed to feel comfortable. Our son is a very bright 12 year old and we will be ever thankful to him for what he did for our son.
