I realize in dealing with something as serious as cancer that one has to almost become hardened to the many disappointments this disease brings with it. It doesn't give the excuse to slam a patient with a terminal diagnonsis in such an unfeeling and uncaring way with no repsect to the patient or their loved ones. Unfortunately he is all that there is in Fredericton - I hope that Dr Broad can make a difference sooner than later, god knows we need someone with compassion and real human feelings in regards to this issue.

As a cancer survivor, I can tell you that the first meeting with an oncologist is scary, at best. But to be told, in front of my daughter and husband that the reality is that I will likely die of cancer was totally uncalled for. I plan to be around for several more decades!

Dr Ghafoor really has to learn that he is dealing with people and not animals. Dealing with a health crisis is hard enough on a patient but to be treated in such a blunt fashion kills all will to fight. My sister now does not want to take any treatment due to his refusing to give her any hope. I know he is not a psychologist but perhaps some courses in bedside manner might be in order.

My first impression of him was not great. As time went on we got to understand each other better and overall I think he is a very good Dr.

My mother was subject to this man's wretched bedside manner. As a newly diagnosed cancer patient she was told abruptly by him 'you are going to die'. When she asked through tears if there was any hope he told her point blank 'no'. He may have been correct in his answers but his bluntness left lots to be desired. Sometimes the greatest gift a Dr can give a patient is hope and with this terrible bluntness he took all glimmer of hope or will to try away. Medical science has been known to be wrong and without a desire to fight, no human being will try to beat the odds. Turns out Mom was a very spiteful person and became determined to prove him wrong. She lost in the end but I pity anyone who would lay down in resignation and not fight just because of this terrible attitude in dealing with patients.
