Dr. Young is knowledgeable and forthright. I appreciate that she carefully explains all options and works with me to find the best possible solution for my disease. She is the expert in her field here at UNMC and I am grateful that I was referred to her. She may be busy in the office but she is always available via email and her nurse, Megan, is extremely professional and always helpful.

Dr. Young is an expert in the field period. I would never trust another doctor with my condition. She is patient, thoughtful, considerate and BUSY. If you are her patient she will fight to see that you get the best care, period.

I am 34 years old and have battle with digestive issues for a long time. At 25 I was misdiagnosed with ulcerative colitis from a Dr who no longer practices in the area. After suffering for 4 years. I went to the Mayo Clinic and was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. The Dr at Mayo referred me to Dr Renee Young and I am so grateful. As a mother of one, I was unable to get pregnant again because I was so ill. Dr Young worked with the surgeons to do a bowel resectioning and I have been in remission since. I thank Dr Young for our second child and my ability to function in a daily basis. She is very concerned about her patients. If you got a bad impression from her - she is all business. Very straight, no bs. I don't want a dr to sugar coat my problems. I want a straight honest answer. She is the best of the best when it cones to the guts!

Over the course of mom's illness, we witnessed a# of medical mistakes, but dealing w Renee tops them all & leaves lasting impression. Renee did a GI procedure on mom but what followed was beyond anyone expectation. While the news was bad, how it was delivered caused the most pain. She was rude, cold & insensitive, plainly told mom is dying & nothing can be done"let nature take its course", as she walked away, with the group of students behind her. I don't ask her to give me false hope, but have some compassion, try to understand the pain patients are going through.Let me tell you Renee, to you mom was another patient but to me she was the world.Im sure you are a good doc,but your bed-side manner is questionable if there is any.If you are unhappy with your life, don't bring it to work, don't take it out on your vulnerable patients.I think you don't belong to a teaching institute, its not ok to display such behavior in front of students & fellows who are learning from you.Bad role model.
