I had a flor de lis tummy tuck and breast lift with implants in one surgery with Dr. Wanzel.
I’m a bareatric patience and after loosing over 200 lbs my body was a disaster. I was expecting an improvement but in my opinion he perform a miracle. My stomach used to hung several inches and my breast was close to my waist. He not only lift them and put them in place he also reduce my nipples to the size I had before pregnancy.
I had a small set back due to an infection on one of my breast and I end up in emergency. He came to the hospital ON HIS DAY OFF to fallow my case. He did drain my breast and booked a second surgery. He call me at home to tell me that everything was arrange and ready, give me instruction for the fallowing surgery. After draining my breast, Dr. Wanzel waited for me and walk me out of the hospital and offer to stay with me until my husband came to pick me up. Have you ever had your surgeon walk you out and offer to wait with you? Well, that what Dr. Wanzel does, he care for his patiences. He is soft spoken and very humble and have excelente bed side manners. Before I chose him I seen a few other surgeons that make me feel very uncomfortable and ashame of my body, Dr. Wanzel actually make me feel good for my accomplishments and was very clear with everything and answer every question even the once I thought were perhaps silly.
I was incredibly happy with the result of everything he did that I booked to get a brachiplasty 6 months latter. I wish he did buttock lifts because I would book with him again.
I have had very many surgeries over the years but this doctor top everyone else.
Thank you so much Dr. Wanzel, you’re the best.
What can I say about Helen?
Well, I feel like I’m talking to my sister when I’m in the office, she’s straight forwards and incredibly helpful. She’s very prompt responding to email and making arrangements.
They make a great team together.
Thank you for everything Helen!
See you next month for my fallow up.

Dr Wanzel and his staff are absolutely amazing. I went in to see Dr Wanzel for a consultation and then got cold feet about the procedure. A year later I gathered up my strength and went back and this time proceeded with my procedure. He is so meticulous and wants only the best for you and therefore tells you only what he can accomplish for you. If your request is not feasible he will let you know up front. He doesn’t give you false promises. I tell anyone and everyone about Dr Wanzel and tell people if you want THE BEST then go see him.

I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Wanzel and his team (including Helen and his nurses) he is patient, caring & listened to my concerns and always was available to answer any questions that came up, especially since this was not cosmetic and I had to go through OHIP. His bedside manners and gentle approach to my nerves didn't go unnoticed and I am forever appreciative. I am a few days post-op and never felt more assured and confident to be in his and his teams hands as I recover.

I saw Dr. Wanzel for a minor surgical procedure, a cyst removal from my jaw. It wasn't a medical emergency or anything, but I was becoming self-conscious about it because it was visible, so I made an appointment.

I never expected to be dazzled by a minor surgical procedure, but I was. He and his assistant are awesome - personable, professional, and very skilled. It's been two days since the procedure and there's been no pain, bruising, swelling, or discomfort of any kind.

No complaints at all from me, every element of the experience was as easy and comfortable as possible.

Bad breast reduction results and post complications

Submitted July 20, 2023

Dr. Kyle Robert Wanzel's response
I am very saddened (and quite surprised) to see this post – in fact, I cannot recall any patients in recent memory that were dissatisfied enough with their result as to drive them to take the time and effort to post a 1-star rating.

I can honestly say that in 19 years of practice, I have not had a single breast reduction patient with a “major” complication. I am sorry that you seem to have had either a “minor” complication or have “aesthetic” concerns with your overall result (see below for details of how I think of these classifications).

Regardless of the specific unfortunate details in your post (which I cannot comment on further since no names are attached to these posts) - I thought I might take this opportunity to use it to benefit the community at large and provide an educational forum to review a few things.

First, as all surgeons and most prospective surgery patients know – surgery of any type unfortunately has risks and the results at the end simply cannot carry absolute guarantees (although we all try our very best every time and luckily for the majority of the time, have extremely happy patients).

Second, with respect to breast reductions more specifically (the most common operation that I perform), I wanted to remind people of some of the “Consequences” and common possible “Complications”.

I consider “Consequences” to be things that are expected an operation in general – such as swelling, bruising, some postoperative pain, and of course scars.

“Complications” can be divided into:

(i) Those that can happen with any surgery – such as (more than expected) postoperative bleeding or a hematoma, postoperative infections, and reactions to general anesthesia; or,

(ii) Those that are specific to a breast reduction - these can be then divided into:

“Minor” – slow or delayed healing (which in breast reductions is most commonly seen in the T junction of the ‘anchor scar’ – and it does happen from time to time), temporary numbness of the nipple area (or any skin for that matter – similarly, it does happen occasionally in the early postoperative period), or small (‘pimple-like’) reactions to the dissolving sutures (this happens as the body mounts an inflammatory response to the suture and we see that on the outside as a small ‘pimple’, which heals in a few days and a then a few mm area of redness slowly fades over time – just like a ‘pimple’ does).

“Major” – serious infections (very rare), blood clots (in the legs or even potentially in the lungs) (extremely rare), permanent loss of nipple sensation (rare, but can happen), inability to lactate and breast feed after (rare, but can happen), and nipple necrosis (ie the nipple dies and has to eventually be removed) (extremely rare – and has not happened in my practice, but can happen in massive breasts and massive breast reductions).

And in breast reductions, there can be postoperative “Aesthetic Concerns” – the two most common are unfavourable scars (eg spread (wide) or hypertrophic (raised and thick) – this has mostly to do with how your own body/skin heals and less so to do with the ‘suturing technique’ (as we all do essentially the same thing – for example, my skin tends to always heal with spread scars)) and possible asymmetries between the two sides (NB - the vast majority of patients (and women in general) have preoperative asymmetries too and, as one of my colleagues often says: “we aim for perfect ‘twins’, but can end up with ‘similar looking sisters’”).

I had a breast reduction ~2 months ago. Everything looks beautiful! Nicely shaped, perfectly equal and my scars are delicate and straight. I love my results. There is no question or doubt regarding the quality, expertise, and pride that this surgeon takes in his work.

In addition to being an exceptionally skilled surgeon, Dr. Wanzel is down to earth, has a good sense of humour and does takes excellent care of his patients (he even took the time to place an extra blanket on me while I was on the operating table. I think I may have been shivering more due to nerves than cold, however this little gesture really stood out for me as I found it extremely attentive and thoughtful. This is only one of many nice little examples that I experienced under his care.)

From the first consultation meeting, I had 100% confidence that I was in good hands. And yes, he will tell you honestly how it is and will be upfront as to what he will or will not do (like not bringing me down to the specific cup size that I originally wanted) but I strongly believe that this is a sign of a truly good doctor. It is deserving of a lot of respect. In the end, I would not hesitate to admit that he was right and knew best.

I would highly recommend Dr. Wanzel – in my opinion you could not ask for better.
