Run the other way, or out of his office as fast as you can!!! Ruined my life, he's a very smooth talker and has great answers for everything before your surgery, but you will discover after the surgery (hopefully not) that everything was a sales pitch just to get his surgery volume high. If you want to gamble with your body and life, then you can chance trusting him. Good luck and be careful before falling for his promises!!!

When I met Dr. Lauryssen, I was 20 years old and had a bilateral pars defect. He recommended a spinal fusion - being young and guile, I trusted him without a second opinion. He made the surgery sound like a very routine procedure. I later learned that it is a highly controversial surgery that should only be done in severe circumstances. My pain is still there, and I wasted $130,000. Unfortunately, having a spinal fusion affects the mechanism of our spine and now I'm getting pain in the surrounding vertebrae. Please please please do your research and get a second opinion always.

It's been years since my surgery done by Dr. Lauryssen and so far it's the only one that actually worked. As I write this I am recovering from my fourth surgery, the last 3 were all for lumbar problems. I knowhe is highly qualified, but the bookkeeping people are not very nice. I was told we could take as long as needed to pay and every time we received a bill we paid it. Then there was a long time when no bills came for months. Eventually someone from collections called wanting to know why we had not been paying. I explained that we had been paying but had not recieved any bills. She promptly called me a liar. Eventually the bill got paid and I did learn that the right doctor makes all the diffference and to keep better track of when people bill you.

Dr. Lauren is a miracle doctor.
Honest, amazing bedside manner, takes his time with his patients and trust worthy.
I had different opinions as to what surgery I needed. He was realistic as to what would benefit me because of my age where other opinions I got were not.
I made the right decisions trusting him.

He's a great Dr but once you've had surgery and paid for all services, they never call back! I've waited weeks for him to call back about a new MRI I sent in only to find out after a month he never read it and never intended to, I now have a new Dr

Dr lauryssen paralyzed me rather than referring me to a more appropriate specialist. He recommended surgery for me, which the specialists do NOT recommend. He said things about my condition that were incorrect and the morning of surgery, when I told him I wasn't sure I wanted to proceed, he said I needed to have the procedure (and again, later I found out I shouldn't have moved forward). Once he and the other doctor opened me up they moved forward with the proceedure even though it was beyond his capabilities and paralyzed me himself. I was cheated out of seeing the right surgeon because this man was too egotistical to send me to a knowledgeable specialist. I'm paralyzed now and will live with his mistake the rest of my life.

I had an exceptional experience with Dr Lauryssen and his staff. He removed bone spurs from my spine. His staff (Alfonso and Tristan) were always helpful and returned phone calls promptly. He does his best to work with his patients regarding insurance.

This doctor was the first, after having seen many other well-known neurologists and surgeons to acknowledge my problem, to test the area of spine to make sure if the pain is caused by the spine, and then perform the best operation possible. He was there in the pre-op. He came to see me the same evening after his several other surgeries on the same day, and he visited me three more times in the five days I was in the hospital. The follow ups were great. If he is ever late it's because sometimes he encounters complications during surgery, as in my case where some bone spurs had not showed up on the CT-Scan. The staff try their best to serve the ever-increasing number of patients who come to Dr. Lauryssen by referral. Nobody even talked to me about any co-payments
