Dr. Roman & Dr. Colville,
Thank you for fantastic dental service over the years. Up till this week service has been fantastic.
I am however very disappointed with the manner and tone your office managers have taken with me and encourage you to look at the way they have mis-handled this situation.
If this is the tone they use with other customers, without having all the facts, I feel this could negatively effect your dental practice.
It’s unfortunate *********** & ************** took upon themselves to “collect” what she appears to think of as a “deadbeat account” of $109 with such vigor.
The fact that my cell phone is in a bag of rice since Sunday, or the fact that I don’t use a credit card doesn’t seem to have been considered. The fact that I said I would be in to clear the $109 balance before my appointment Dec. 11 doesn’t seem to have been considered either.
She then justify’ s her lack of customer service common sense on “my history of broken appointments” and has to dig back 10 years to find something to support her abrupt underlined threats of cancelled service.
Look into other lost accounts and I’m sure you will see a pattern. They have chased away this account.
Polite works just as well as abrupt does…possibly better.
I’d appreciate an email from Dr. Roman & Dr. Colville to acknowledge they have seen this email

Sincerely,
********* ************
Disappointed Customer who has spent tens of thousands of dollars over the years.........
....No aknowledgement email was ever returned....I sincerely believe it was never passed on to them.

Been a patient for many years and have a good dental plan as a 30 plus year teacher with Calgary Public..... but recently was offended by a pushy admin Leia who chastised in an email threatening to cancel an upcoming appointment due to $109 balance and my "late notice cancellations". Disappointing ...looking for new dentist as a result. My phone fell in a hot tub over the weekend and I'm trying the rice method to dry it out which explains the missed messages.

Here is a snippet of the message ...
"I am following up regarding the balance on file of $109.41 that we spoke about on Nov26 when you were here for your dental apt. I asked you to look after this and you said he didn't have a way to pay that day, No debit or credit card. You assured me that you would call back in the following couple days to use your credit card over the phone. Do date this has not taken place yet. I left you a voice mail on Monday Dec 3 to please call us by the end of the day Tues Dec4 to look after this balance.

I have just left you another voicemail, due to the delay in paying thus far, and a history of short notice canceling appointments is in the past, we need to get a pre-payment for the crown we you are scheduled for on Dec 11 at 11:15am also.

I talked to you about your out of pocket cost being $850.00 for this crown. In order to keep your apt on Dec 11, we need you to prepay for this out of pocket cost and your outstanding balance by Friday Dec 7th at 2pm when we close this day. This total will be $959.00. You can look after this with a credit card via the phone or come into the office. We are here until 6:30 on Wed and Thurs. If your payment is not made by the requested date your apt on Dec 11 and Dec 20 will be cancelled.

If you have any questions please call and speak with me or Lisa.

Kindly,
Leia
Assistant Manager

I have been a patient of Dr. Roman for approx 12 years. Dr. Roman has always treated me with respect and is a great dentist. As for Andrew the receptionist, I always accepted him for who he is and got on very well with him and had no issues. I have adopted a son who was terrified to go and Dr. Roman was incredible with him and he actually looks forward to going and asks me "when are we going to the dentist". I do recommend Dr. Roman!

I am not her patient and after listening to her talk to her patient while i was in the office I will never see her. I heard her telling the patient that the male dentist who had done some work on the patient previously had done a terrible job. Team players do not talk this way even if there is a problem. Why would she not discuss this with the previous dentist rather than give the patient the impression that the other person doesn't know what he is doing? I am sure she is not perfect either but to suggest to a patient this is inappropriate. I noticed that the patient did not agree with her either and said she didn't want done what Dr. R suggested. Inappropriate and rude in my opinion.

She is a good dentist and friendly. She does have a private practice downtown. But the guy that works as receptionist is horrible. He is slow and very very rude. He is dirty and has dirty nails. I am not going back because of him.

As many others have stated, Dr. Roman is an amazing dentist. I'm a pain-in-the-butt patient; I have poor teeth and I'm quite afraid of dentists. She ensures that I'm comfortable and undersatnd what is going on every step of the way. I have been very lucky to find her. Sadly, if it's an emergency appointment, I cannot say the same for others in her clinic. I will stay home and suffer through pain rather than take an emergency appointment that's not with her. I also agree that the clinic in general appears to be more concerned about billing for extras that you do not want. I'm stubborn and don't allow it, but I do hate having that fight every time I am in. If you're looking for a sweet, professional, smart, and good dentist - visit Dr. Roman without hesitation. If you can be bullied easily into things you don't really want, this may not be the clinic for you. I wish she had a private practice.

Our whole family has been going to her for over 10 years. She is extremely knowledgeable and her technology is top notch. She tends to suggest a lot more, than what you need, however only does, what you ask for. The receptionist is the only problem there, as he is slow and hard to understand. Overall we have never had any problems and were always highly satisfied with the service. She is very gentle and has good people skills. I highly recommend her for anybody.

I found Dr. Roman to be a good dentist but don't care for the clinic she works in. The clinic is a money making machine. I've had uneccessary xrays (Dr. Roman didn't even look at them!) and extra units of scaling charged to me. I know this because I am a dental professional. I feel like I get charged extra because my insurance will cover most of it. I am currently seeing my family dentist in BC because of the pushy reception staff and overcharging.

Although she is knowledgeable and is on the cutting edge of technology, her practice of forcing services on her customers without their permission was not appreciated. If her customer service skills and people skills improved I would return for a second visit.

I like this doctor very much and I am not Romanian for a start. She knows her job and she does it extremely well. Everything is clean and tidy in the office and she is always spotless herself. She performed one procedure I did not want, but I sort of got talked into it, and I am happy now I did! It is better to listen to a professional rather than make a judgment in the area where you don’t have an expertise.
