If you are considering using Dr. Derrough, please keep looking. There are many better OB choices in the Cox network. My birth experience (first one) was absolutely brutal. I'm not sure if I would even select one of the other OB's in her group practice as she might be the one showing up for your delivery. On the other hand, the nursing staff is amazing. They are the only reason I stayed on with Dr. Derrough. But the office staff won't be there for your delivery. :(

I went to this doctor to see about discomfort in my vaginal area. She ran two tests and told me since they were both negative, I probably had Herpes. She wanted to take a blood test that day, but because of her horrid bedside manner, I opted to take the test at a doctor's office out of my own pocket. The results were negative and when I called her office to tell her, she did not believe me, so I had my doctor who performed the test fax her my results. In the same visit, when her hands were shoved in side of me, she said since I was uncomfortable with her hands in me, I was probably ****ed (again, with her hands still deep inside my vagina). I have never been ****ed or anything of the sort, and her horrific behavior has seriously damaged me. Do not go to this doctor!!!

Dr. Derrough refuses to run requested tests, and often assumes that nothing is wrong. You are left to fend for yourself. I recommend finding a different doctor.

DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR!! She totally refused to test my progesterone levels during my early pregnancy visit even though I'd tested for low progesterone previously. I LOST MY BABY BECAUSE OF THIS CRAZY WOMAN!!! IF I HAD THE MONEY TO SUE I WOULD"VE!! Another reason not to go to this office... THEY REFUSE TO ALLOW OLDER SIBLINGS EVEN IN THE OFFICE. They refuse to allow children to have ANY PART in the pregnancy. For a later pregnancy, I went to another OB and my son was able to "help" the doctor find the heartbeat, and be there during ultrasounds, things he'll remember for the rest of his life, and things he'd NEVER have gotten to experience had I stayed at Derrough's horrible office.

I was only 18 when I had my first pregnancy. I was leary to go to a male doctor, as I had had a bad experience in the past, so I insisited on a female doctor. I ended up with Dr. Dorough. Like the previous reviewers, I felt that she was very cold. The few times that she was friendly she'd only talk for a moment and then leave the room and not come back. If I ever had questions, (which I did, because it was my first pregnancy), she never really answered them. She was always like, "well that's the way it is." or "It doesn't really matter." The answers were always vague and def. not helpful. I would not recommend her to anyone. Instead, if you are in the Branson/Springfield area, I would recommend Dr. Afshar at Skaggs in Branson. He delivered both of my sons and is the most kind-hearted, informative Doctor ever!

Like the above reviewer, Derrough used the same technique on me. I was pregnant at the time with a miscarrying baby but she missed it completely. She gave the the same "through" exam, and told me "This is where your baby is". (And missed the fact that the baby was undersized for its gestational age... I miscarried two weeks later.) Derrough has a split personality. Some days she's nice & friendly, others she is angry, terse, & downright defensive. She neglected doing a progesterone test on me after I told her I'd had a previous miscarriage. She could have prevented my 2nd m/c by this very simple test. She doesn't explain treatments to you, and gets VERY defensive when you ask her ANY questions about the treatment. She won't explain why she believes the treatment course is the right one, and looks down on you for looking things up yourself. She doesn't like questions, and if you call the office w/ one you'll have to play phone tag with a nurse for hours before getting a reply.

Doctor Derrough is a disgrace to her profession. I don't know what her problem was or is but she has serious mental issues. She should seek therapy. Lesson #1 never ever see a new physician without a nurse in the room as an observer. This OBGYN basically violated me! Shoved her hand inside me, was very painful and rude, then added insult to injury to me when she pushed my uterus upward with her fingers then grabbed my hand and placed it on my lower abdomin where the uterus was and said in a very stern voice, "HERE, THIS IS WHERE YOUR UTERUS IS", as if I didn't know. I was shocked and in great pain. Because there wasn't a nurse in the room with us it would be my word against the doctors otherwise I would sue her into another galaxy. I was fortunate enough to get to an oncologist and ended up having a radical hysterectomy due to cancer. I've never met a more hideous doctor in my life and hope I never do again. This doctor has serious mental, attitude problems to treat any patient the way she treated me.
