Went to Alan Zimet for stage three Bowel Cancer for my husband. Our first appointment was delayed by 45 minutes when some random woman came in and got seen before us. We were just left sitting there with no communication.

Very very expensive and hardly any information given. We had to ask nurses at hospital for information that they assumed was given at Dr Zimet’s rooms.

Very short appointments for the money that you pay. Very rushed and we felt like we were holding him up.

But most disappointing was the fact that no PET scan was ever given and seven months later after receiving PET scans at Peter McCallum, my husband’s stage three Bowel Cancer is actually stage four metastasised Bowel Cancer. There was even a CT scan showing that my husband’s right lung was partially collapsed but still no PET scan was ordered. Subsequent oncologists have said that there was a mass on the lung that was missed.

I would not recommend Alan Zimet or any of his staff to anybody. His staff are exceptionally unorganised and exceedingly rude. The office manager will NOT let you get a word in and talks over you and is extremely condescending. Really awful to deal with.

There is absolutely no empathy whatsoever. At your first appointment after finding out you have cancer, you expect care and consideration. You do not get this here AT ALL. Dr Zimet’s practices are so archaic compare to anybody else’s and his arrogance is beyond belief. Nurses at Peter Mac suggested some medication and he refused it, only to prescribe it a week later.

The lack of PET scan could now lead to a much much shorter life span for my husband. I urge you to do your research and read these reviews before you put your life in this man’s hands.

Level of care and treatment was outdated, unfortunately he did not provide regular scans for my lung cancer which spread undetected for years I am now battling stage 4. I have a wonderful new oncologist and realise how old fashioned and outdated his treatment was. I would not recommend him, find a different oncologist.

I had a phone appt with him to go over blood test results, he didn't really explain what alot of them meant, my GP did a better job of that. Not only that he sounded like he was half asleep, the whole appt took not much more than 5 mins, & i paid over $100 for the privilege. Maybe its time for the doctor to retire so he can have some daytime naps.

Both of my parents have been under the care of Dr Zimet, one for close to 10 years. He is a wonderful caring person and I cannot thank him enough for the attention and care he has shown both my parents.

I write this as a clinician and the son of a person under Dr Zimet’s care. I am astounded at the level of apathy of this physician. His arrogance is only surpassed by his complete lack of compassion. He goes through the steps and treats the cancer (somewhat questionably) amd forgets completely about the person he is providing care to. He is not collaborative with other Physicians nor is he capable of identifying the best care pathway.
Incapable, obnoxious, arrogant, without feeling or compassion and a true example of someone who should leave the medical profession. De Zimet, have a good long hard look at yourself and ask yourself do you give the best of yourself to the patient to whom you are caring and their family. Because from all of my experiences with you and as a physician, you sir, should retire.

During my cancer treatment for Non Hodkins Lymphoma by Dr. Zimet my shortness of breath went undiagonsed causing near fatal outcome. Have lost confidence due to lack of thoroughness of treatment and care. Will seek alternative specialist for my ongoing treatment.

Made me feel very comfortable and took the time to explain to me all my options. Very caring. Hopefully won't have to recommend to anybody, but if they are seeking treatment, I would absolutely recommend this doctor.

Thanks to Allan Zimet lack to treat my lung cancer quicker it has now spread to my liver and Iam now terminal gee what a great oncologist time to retire leave it up to the Doctors that are much more up with current treatments
