I read Dr. Copen's reviews while I waited for him (he was late). I didn't mind that he was late because I can entertain myself, and he gave me more than the hour he set for me. I work in mental health and have worked with my own MH for decades. This is the first time I've seen anyone who had a grasp on what is happening for me in a holistic way, which was SUCH a relief. I appreciated his candor and down to earth manner. I find it mildly amusing that folks go to a psychiatrist and then complain about medication suggestions to alleviate suffering. I encourage folks who are looking for self management tools to call a counsellor instead (might shorten the wait for those who are interested in taking medical advice to improve quality of life).

Dr John is a great psychiatrist. He pushes the meds on me and that's the only thing I have a problem with. He always makes time for me even when he is late.

I've had Dr. Copen for several years now and I can only say positive comments about his performance as a Psychiatrist. However, I can NOT say the same for the girls who work in his office. On at least 2 occasions I have made attempts in contacting Dr. Copen's office with NO avail even after leaving a messages on their voicemail. I have also used the private Medeo Website to send them secured messages with STILL NO reply. I find this totally unacceptable that I am unable to get a reply from one of their useless secretaries concerning an appointment. People like those secretaries who DON'T care about the wellbeing of Dr. Copen's patients should NOT be working there. Now after almost 3 weeks and 3 formal attempts in contacting Dr. Copen's office to re-schedule an appointment, I am still unable to make a new appointment.

Dr. Copen has been an engaged care provider. His confidence in my ability to improve and willingness to listen and work with me to find the right combination of therapy and medications has brought me to a place in my life where I am the most functional I've ever been. I consider my major chronic depression to be in remission now and the symptoms of my neurological disorder to be manageable now that I've had consistent continuity of care via Dr. Copen for a couple of years. I am unbelievably grateful for his caring assistance.

Professionalism should be a rating option... 0 stars for that. First meetings he seemed knowledgeable, but once I told him I felt comfortable talking to him, he started making very inappropriate comments that made me feel uncomfortable as a woman (ie. “did you know that Psychiatrists used to give their patients orgasms?”). He thinks he’s the best in his field & will spend most of your appointment time talking about how great he is. I am pretty sure he’s a Narcissist... would highly recommend going elsewhere, especially if you are a woman.

Dr Copen has helped me in so many ways over the last few years. I find him to be knowledgeable on his medications and his tools of therapy very useful.

I've been Dr. Copen's patient over a year and it's been life-changing. I've never had a psychiatrist quite this caring or invested in his patients' therapeutic success. If he worked in retail, I'd give him an A+ in customer orientation, meaning that he's not happy until you are and will leverage every single tool in his considerable skillset to help you out.

He's also pretty smart (for a medical doctor... haha, PhD joke) so he'll very likely get your issue, regardless of how complicated it feels. I seldom recommend radical honesty with authority, but I see Dr. C solidly on the light side of this godforsaken system.

If you're worried about punctuality, I'd say give yourself and your fellow patients time to heal in this truly forked up, hyper-optimized society. You can chill in the waiting room, turn off your phone and ignore everyone outside because "you're at the doctor"! Bring a pastime- a good novel, your sudoku or crochet. And give the good doctor time, he's constantly trying to make more time for more of us. And there's a lot of us who need help.

really helped my Son get back to his life. Often late, but takes his time when you need help.

Has helped me so much. Very grateful. Runs late at times but these things happen as emergencies come up.
